UNC basketball senior captain Seth Trimble, now playing his fourth and final season of college ball, is no stranger to big moments.
Trimble, the Tar Heels' starting shooting guard, nailed the game-winning 3-pointer to upset Duke earlier in February. Trimble scores in double-digits most night, giving North Carolina another consistent, reliable scoring option who takes the pressure off his teammates.
In the greatest statistical output of his college basketball career, Trimble delivered another big moment on Monday night.
During UNC's 77-74 win over a ranked Louisville squad, which extended its home record to 16-0, Trimble exploded for a career high 30 points. Trimble nailed 11 of his 16 field goals (1-of-3 from deep), while making a Tar Heels-best seven free throws.
After North Carolina's massive victory, head coach Hubert Davis expanded upon Trimble's timely impact, particularly against a good defensive team like the Cardinals (20-8, 9-6 ACC).
Trimble recorded his second-straight game in double-figures, after pouring in 13 during Saturday's 77-64 win at Syracuse. Trimble joined some elite company with his elite outing: making him the first UNC player since RJ Davis to score 30+ points, while joining Tim Duncan and Carlos Boozer as the only three ACC players to average a certain set of numbers, in three straight games against AP Top 25 opponents.
If Trimble keeps scoring at this clip, which is extremely difficult for anyone to do, UNC can beat any team in the country.

"Seth was huge for us tonight – on both ends of the floor," Davis said via TarHeel247's Noah Weiskopf. "He had a responsibility of guarding (Mikel) Brown – and what a responsibility that is. He's a fantastic player. But you know against their defense, they're long, athletic, very versatile. You have to be able to find ways to break down their defense – and be able to consistently score. And Seth was our guy. Coming off ball screens. The thing that I love about him was he was thinking attack. He wasn't coming off looking to pass. One of the things that I told him is, when you come off of a ball screen, you're 100 percent thinking score. And then let the defense dictate whether you make a pass or go to the basket. Seth's ability to be able to get downhill, he was able to score, draw fouls, just a huge-difference maker for us against a really good defensive team."
