Can someone please reveal the big secret regarding right-clicking and that stupid protection some people put over their sites to prevent you from right clicking.

I'm on a site and I want to save one of the pics and when I right click, the owner of the site put that protection thing on it, so it wont let me.

Argh!!

If you have the newest version of Internet Explorer, you can simply click on the picture and in the top left hand corner it will give you four icons, one of which will be to save the image.

If you do not have the newest version of IE, download it at windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Two ways around it.

1) If you have a basic knowledge of HTML, you can click on the view menu, select "source" and search for the pic in the code, and point your browser to the direct link.

2) You can temporarily disable your java by clicking on Tools...Internet Options, security tab. Select custom level and change the Microsoft VM to disable Java. Grab the pic and save it, then make sure to reset your VM options back otherwise all your other websites will be hosed.

Lol, right - I'm really after their html codes and junk, considering I'm such a wiz at computers and stuff  :)

All I wanted was an X-File picture to put on my desktop!

Thanks everyone for your help!

You're the only one that has a problem with saving these pics.

It's clearly a deep-rooted conspiracy aimed at destroying your self-confidence.

I didn't save the link - It was just a random x-files fan site.. one from waaaaay back when that has no real format or anything, just a bunch of pictures on the page.

Do you want x-files pictures for your desktop, too!? :p

Oh my gosh, I am so happy someone else can SEE this and understand the pain and agony I went through! I mean, every time I right-clicked - DENIED. I felt so alone! But now... now I HAVE THE POWER!!! muahahahahaha

Ok, I'm done.

Seriously though, thanks everyone for the tips - My internet experience can now be taken to another level. :)

Hmm, maybe that should be my new desktop - thanks Ryan! And for good measure, maybe someone could toss in some wav clips of Nick Burns the Computer Guy - just to add that extra something.

:)
