Peyton Siva is leaving Pat Kelsey's Louisville basketball coaching staff to team up with Rick Pitino again.
The former Cardinals point guard, who under Pitino helped lead the program to back-to-back Final Four appearances and the 2013 national championship, is filling an assistant vacancy on the Hall of Fame coach's staff at St. John's, according to multiplereports.
For Siva, the move ends a two-year run with Kelsey, who named him UofL's director of player development and alumni relations less than a month after his hiring in 2024. The 35-year-old Seattle native moved into his first Division I on-court coaching role last August, when now-former staffer Brian Kloman was promoted to a general manager-like position.
Siva's areas of expertise, mentoring the Cards' point guards and coordinating their press defense, should come as no surprise. He also served as a bridge between the program's present and storied past — an invaluable asset during an era of unprecedented player movement.
Siva saw a $10,000 raise in base salary — from $85,000 to $95,000 — when he was promoted to assistant coach. In addition to his work on the court, he maintained his responsibilities as director of alumni relations.
Siva is the third coach to leave UofL this offseason, joining Kloman (Auburn) and Thomas Carr (Indiana).
