To make the Giannis Antetokounmpo - Boston Celtics trade rumor saga more complex than it already is, the New York Times' Sam Amick is reporting that the Celtics have interest in a certain New Orleans Pelicans player previously connected to the team should a Greek Freak pursuit not pan out, but also that another Western Conference ball club has eyes for an entirely different Boston starter than the star Celtic being connected to Giannis in recent weeks. There are also rumbles of additional teams being interested in that star Boston forward.

Per Amick, even though Boston has "serious interest and remain a significant threat to derail Miami Heat president Pat Riley’s plans" to land Antetokounmpo, "the Celtics’ desperation level isn’t at the level of the Heat’s," and Boston is reportedly "among the many teams with interest in the New Orleans Pelicans’ Trey Murphy III."

Should no trade materialize between the Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks, the Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly kicking the tires on trying to land Jaylen Brown.

On top of all that scuttlebutt, Amick is also reporting that the Minnesota Timberwolves have considered trying to land Boston guard Derrick White.

As always, keep the many interests that can be behind such reporting in mind whenever considering what such rumbles may mean, as we are in the height of so-called 'silly season,' that time of the league calendar when front offices, agents, and players negotiate (and at times, engage in intrigue) through the media.
