Fans loved seeing Triple-A call-up Anthony Seigler carry on one of the Boston Red Sox's oldest traditions: hitting home runs off of New York Yankees "ace" Gerrit Cole.

Cole has (hilariously) struggled against the Red Sox for his entire Yankees career, and Saturday was no different. Cole ended the day with 5.1 innings pitched and four earned runs allowed on seven hits in the loss.

Seigler, on the other hand, has no traditions to uphold as Saturday was only his 10th game in his Red Sox career.

The Worcester call-up now has a hit in seven of his first 10 games, including multi-hit games in three. He extended his hit streak to five when he pumped a 3-1 fastball into the Monster seats off Cole in the second inning for his first career home run.

Seigler spoke to reporters after the game.

"It was amazing, words can't describe it really," Seigler said.

When asked about what he was screaming at the dugout when he rounded the bases, Seigler told reporters that their guess is as good as his.

"Honestly, I just blacked out. I don't know what I said," Seigler said with a laugh. "Who knows -- I was just excited."

Seigler, who was a Yankees first-round draft pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, said hitting it against New York was gratifying.

"It just happened to be against the Yankees -- which is cool," Seigler said. "It could've come against any team. I'm just happy to get my first one out of the way."
