Red Sox's Craig Breslow Responds To Question About Being On 'Hot Seat' originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox have not lived up to expectations so far, but there is still time to turn things around.
The Red Sox fired Alex Cora after a slow start, but that may put more pressure on Craig Breslow to field a team that wins. The Red Sox have plenty of talent, but the players need to perform better. With Cora gone, Breslow was asked whether he feels like he's on the "hot seat" now if things do not change.
"I've been asked that question a decent amount over the last couple of weeks and my answer really doesn't change," Breslow said on WEEI on Thursday. "I'm spending my time working with our coaches, working in the office, to think about how we get our season on track. That's the most important thing. That's always going to be the most important thing. Hearing about John (Henry) relaying that he is frustrated or disappointed with where the organization is today, I don't think that's surprising. We're in last place in the division. We're not playing up to our expectations. I think we're all frustrated and disappointed with that."
"Hot seat"? Wiggy asks Craig Breslow, "Do you feel like... there is a chance, (since they moved on from Alex Cora) that you may be me on the 'HOT SEAT', if things don't turn around?" Are the Red Sox willing to "overpay" for a RH bat?. #baseball#mlb#Redsox#fyppic.twitter.com/GuAeSZTeuP

The reality is, with Cora gone, the pressure does fall on Breslow now. He led the charge to move on from Cora, hoping the move would yield better results. However, he is not focused on what's going to happen if things don't change. He is focused on making sure things do actually change.
According to MLB insider Buster Olney, the Red Sox are in the market for a right-handed bat. Despite their slow start, the Red Sox are still within striking distance of a wild card spot with months left to play. They figure to get Garrett Crochet and Roman Anthony back at some point as well.
If they can start playing a little better and get healthy, there's no reason to believe they can't make the postseason.
