The Boston Red Sox have played far below expectations through their first 70 games of 2026, but Craig Breslow still has hope they can turn things around.

Prior to Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, Breslow declared he was “absolutely not” giving up on the season during his pregame appearance on NESN.

“Right now, given we’ve got six weeks or so before the deadline, our focus is on doing everything we can to give ourselves a chance to win the game each night,” Breslow said.

Unfortunately, the Red Sox are still losing more than they're winning. Tuesday's loss dropped them to 29-41 overall and 12-23 at Fenway Park. This is the first year they've been 12 games under .500 in June since 1997.

Boston has shown no signs of turning things around, either, going 4-8 in June, including 2-7 against divisional opponents. The Red Sox are tied for the second-fewest wins in baseball and have just a 14.1 percent chance of making the playoffs according to FanGraphs.

During his appearance on WEEI last week, even Sam Kennedy acknowledged that Boston may need to sell by the Aug. 3 trade deadline. Breslow apparently doesn't agree yet, but he might not have a choice if the Red Sox don't dramatically improve over the next six weeks.
