WATERTOWN — For the second in three weeks, Mother Nature wiped out the weekly racing program at Casino Speedway.
Rain showers early on May 31 led the cancellation of the Sunday evening racing program at the local speedway.
Track officials will try again on Sunday, June 7 with the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series scheduled to be part of the 14th Marilyn Olson Memorial.
The purse for the late model feature winner is $3,000.
The racing program, which is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., will also include Midwest modifieds, Gen X late models and street stocks.
Highlights from other area stock car racing events from the past week include:
HURON — Trevor Nelson of Warner won his super stock feature in four tries at Dakota State Fair Speedway on Saturday, May 30.
Cole Searing of Huron (late models) and Jake Wranek of Sioux Falls (Midwest modifieds) each won their second features so far this season at DSFS.
Grady Meyers of Winner won his first street stock feature.
Nelson also won a super stock heat race. Other area drivers who won heat races included Maria Broksieck of Goodwin, street stocks; and Scott Hansen of Garden City, Midwest modifieds.
The field included 43 cars (15 street stocks, 13 Midwest modifieds, six super stocks and nine late models).
The Tri-State Late Model Series will highlight the Tri-State Late Model Dash scheduled for Thursday, June 4 and Saturday, June 6. Racing opens at 7 p.m. each night.
ABERDEEN — Six drivers won their first feature races of the season at Brown County Speedway during the May 29th racing program.
Aberdeen drivers Josh Skorczewski (late models) Garrett Gross (modifieds), Cory Moser (street stocks) and TJ Pfeiffer (legends) each won features along with Todd Stark of Watertown (Midwest modifieds) and Aaron Arbogast of Huron (super stocks).
Skorczewski, Stark and Pfeiffer also won heat races in those same divisions.
Other area drivers who won heat races include Mike Stearns of Aberdeen, modifeds; Broksieck, street stocks; and Nelson and Stewart Schipke of Aberdeen, super stocks.
Twenty-three Midwest modified cars were part of a 74-car field that also featured 14 late models, 13 street stocks, 12 super stocks, nine modifieds and three legends.
The Tri-State Late Model Series will headline the racing program scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, June 5.
LAST WEEK'S AREA RACING: Racing programs washed out at Aberdeen & two area Minnesota tracks
MADISON, MN — The 2026 racing season at Madison Speedway opened with a special racing program on Memorial Day (May 25) before the track's regular weekly racing program on May 30 was wiped out by rain.
Tony Croninger of Watertown (Gen X late models), Ryan Flaten of Madison, MN (Midwest modifieds) and Adam VanDerostyne of Canby, MN (hornets) each won features on May 25.
Area drivers who won heat races included Joe Arndt of Ortonville, MN (street stocks), Flaten and Scott Tofte of Madison, MN (Midwest modifieds), Nate Heinrich of Bellingham, MN and Tony Konold of Clear Lake (modifieds), Bodie Croninger of Watertown (Gen X late models) and VanDerostyne (hornets).
The next racing program is slated for Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m.
MONTEVIDEO, MN — There was no scheduled racing program this weekend at Fiesta City Speedway.
Racing is slated to resume with the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, June 5-6.
Racing action opens at 7 p.m. each night.
