DIAMONDBACKS MAKE A TRIO OF ROSTER MOVES
PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks yesterday optioned catcher Robby Hammock
to Tucson (AAA) and acquired the contract of righthanded pitcher Scott
Service from the Sidewinders. To open a spot on the 40-man roster for
Service, Arizona moved righthanded pitcher Bret Prinz from the 15-day to the
60-day disabled list.
Service signed a minor league contract with Arizona on February 12, 2003.
The 36-year old righthander has played for 7 teams (Philadelphia, Montreal,
Colorado, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Kansas City and Oakland) in his 18-year
professional career. He has compiled a 19-19 record with a 4.90 ERA (197 ER
in 361.2 IP) in 284 career big league appearances, including 1 start.
Hammock was recalled from Tucson on April 1 when the Diamondbacks placed
Prinz on the disabled list.
