This would be one of the least appealing OC opportunities in the NFL, we will be looking at either a reclamation project QB or a rookie QB behind a suspect OL, a RB depth chart that has a past his prime #1 coming off a season ending injury and a #2 RB that has a history of injuries going back to college and an underachieving first round WR. Your one positive is McBride.

Then add a HC with a record 20 games below .500, likely on a short leash, a defense that is freaking awful and a front office with no track record of success.

Any OC taking this job, no matter how confident, has to realize this isn’t a long term gig.

We will get the worst of the available candidates, only way different is if Bidwill offers a premium to bring someone in and we all know he isn't going to pay above the league average.

The only way we get a good OC is if we have an entirely new coaching staff with a quality HC allowed to hand pick the right guy.

And yet all of us are still here

Alas...

According to Albert Breer of SI.com, Jim Bob Cooter could be an option. He is an offensive coordinator right now (Colts), so he would need permission to leave, but the thinking is that Gannon and Shane Steichen are such good colleagues that it could be done, if he wanted to.
Anyone with a name like Jim Bob Cooter should always be at the top of ANY list. I do love me some Cooter!

Many on this board have argued the same, and every time I think it is a strange view.

First, I doubt that most OC’s believe so little in themselves, that their performance would not change the overall situation for the Cardinals (and thus for Gannon).

Second, salary tends to be a good motivator.

Third, there are only 32 OC-jobs in the NFL.

Fourth, it’s certainly not a sure thing that a coach ever gets another chance to become an OC.

Fifth, being a football coach is their life, both economical and prestige-wise. Most coaches have ambitions and want to get as high as they can in their career.

Sixth, in Arizona they would get to work with a new QB - potentially a high draft pick.

Seventh, the offense is pretty much theirs as Gannon is a defensive minded coach.

Eight, he would replace a failure, which is just always a good starting point to be in.

Ninth, if Bidwill thought Gannon was a lame duck waiting to get fired, he would obviously not keep him, and maybe a coach thinks the same way.

Tenth, logic says that there will be big investments in the offense.

Yes, I know I am not a humble person in these things.
11th. Gannon was signed for 5 years...not 4...so the term "Lame Duck" does not accurately apply
