It’s an enigma that we are forced to live with.
We threw 3 deep balls today. One was successful, ironically into great coverage , the easier one was overthrown and one overthrow to Wilson.
Does Petzing REALLY sucks. Is he too conservative by design? Is he too conservative because lack of trust in Kyler?
Perhaps it’s a little of both. But Kyler always looks skittish. ALWAYS. We all watch a lot of football. Other qb’s SEEM to be calm.
It’s not going to magically change. In fact It’s never going to change. We will win some games when Kyler is being Kyler and we will lose some games when Kyler is being Kyler. Sometimes he will be pretty good. Sometimes he will be pretty bad. You know what that makes him?
Average.
Hell, Rattler looked calm even when he was about to be hit. Stood in the pocket and completed a great pass on that play.

sorry - and you know im not a murray apologist- but my man on the road in a early game did more than manage he held it together - the frustration we saw on the sideline was normal - kyler sitting - looking angry as hell but it didn't translate to mistakes on the field

the crowd was nuts - the o-line was ass - and the saints kept marching in - not only that but rattler kept the pressure on - props to that dude on a good game - thankfully kyler was up for the task

missed some key passes but not throwing it directly to the other team was huge - i was low key waiting for the kyler blunder deep in our own territory or in the dreaded redzone- he ran out of bounds but he didn't inexplicably jump in the air and make panic throws - and chill on the blind side play action sack - nobody has eyes in the back of their head

road win - failed at the 2 minute drill but didn't make the typical mistakes at the end allowing our defense to some how some way hold on

He’s in his seventh season. It’s time we start expecting more
dude you're preaching to the choir - he didn't throw it to the other team tho - the missed throw to marvelous went safely over his head - if he coughed it up just once we don't win that game

The sack at the end of the game was unforgivable. They were playing for field position at that point. If they got the 1st down, great. Game over. But if not, the worst thing he could do was turn the ball over. The second worse thing would be to run backwards.

He was clearly looking for a dump-off pass on 3rd and 4. It wasn't there yet as our OL couldn't hold up (shocker). Just step into the pocket and if the read isn't there, get close the gap to the original LOS and possibly wriggle through a gap. Or take a knee!!! Don't gift the Saints 15 yards by trying to extend that play!

Yes, that is what a game manager can do. Perhaps we can compromise and say he played like a good game manager?

2nd worse thing he could’ve done is throw the ball out of bounds or on the ground, stopping the clock completely, tbh. 3rd worse thing was taking the sack.

Agree that taking the sack was better than throwing an incompletion. The big issue is he tried to use his spin out escape move vs a DB (i think). I would have liked him to know who the free rusher was so he would have known the spin out wouldn't work and he could have just got down.

I think this is where most people should land on Kyler until he demonstrates over multiple games or in big games that he is something different. 15th-20th best QB in the league. Won't necessarily win you games but also won't lose them. It's fine until you get to the playoffs.

He won the game yesterday.

After going up 20-10, Kyler was the QB of 4 offensive drives.

5 plays, 11 yards.
9 plays, 35 yards.
8 plays, 12 yards.
3 plays, -9 yards,

Games are won in the 4th Q, and by that logic, the defense won the game yesterday.
Yet you don't take into account the Two Condom play calling that Petz puts out in that very situaiton.

Kyler is a 7 year vet. If he wants to audible, he can. Kyler has shown he is ok going with the two condom plays. He has shown that he is not wired to be the QB who comes to the LOS and changes everything based on what he is seeing. Kyler is vocal enough that if he demanded that control and wasn't getting it, it would have gotten out.

Kyler showed us exactly what he's shown us the last couple of years. He's not getting better at this point.

He is on pace to throw 34 TDs, 0 Interceptions, go 17-0, gain 645 rushing yards, all with a 72.4% completion percentage and 108.4 QB rating.

I think we'll all take that if that is what he is. ;)

Or how about the craptastic OC do his job. You people wanting tom Brady behind center ain’t getting it. If teams can win Super Bowls with Jalen Hurts we can win with K1.

Instead we are drafting blocking TEs and possession Wrs and running an archaic offense.
