Just realized that in 3 days, this movie made more than the entirety of James Gunn’s Superman domestically and bettered it’s entire international run by 300 million dollars.

In 3 days. I know this generation LOVED Robert Downey’s Tony Stark/Iron Man, something ridiculous, but I.T occurred to me that Holland’s Spider-Man is kinda the second coming of Christopher Reeves Superman, as far as being the most beloved, pure Superhero of his era.
It's going to, if it hasn't already, out earned the entire DCU catalogue under Gunn. It's crazy how bad the WB is at handling DC.

BTW, just saw the domestic total was raised to $360 for the weekend. That puts it past Endgame.

and it made 46 million bucks domestic (good gravy!) on it's first Monday, another record.

it's probably gonna be at 600 million by the end of weekend 2! that's insane.

What's insane is that Sony Pictures, through Columbia Pictures, acquired the Spider-Man film rights in 1999 for $7 million. Not a bad investment at all. I know there is a partnership now with Marvel/Disney/Sony to get these films made, but Sony has benefitted greatly since they put that money up for Spidey to help a struggling Marvel Comics in the late 90's.

The rate it's going, and with the upcoming release schedule, I think it'll beat Endgame's $858m domestic. I'm starting to think that $1b domestic might even be possible. That would be a first time it's ever happened. Force Awakens is the top right now at $937m.

it's got a lot of runway this month too with nothing really on the horizon to knock it off.

I expect this to dominate August, with Odyssey also picking up everything else in it's wake.

Crazy thing is the Odyssey is still making BANK. 10 million on it's 3rd Monday is A LOT of money and it's now kind of an afterthought... that might end up making near 600 million domestic and 1.5 billion global.
