IMO, in regard to FIBA style basketball, the world already caught and passed the United States.
If possible, I think the NBA and FIBA should get together and try to take the best parts of each game (FIBA and NBA) and develop one uniform international set of rules. I guess it will never happen as ice hockey has many of the same problems... at least I think the rink sizes are different which radically changes the game.
However, I would absolutely puke if goal tending were ever allowed in the NBA as it is allowed with FIBA.
