Texas Tech baseball teams have missed the NCAA tournament each of the past three seasons. If the Red Raiders end the streak next year, they'll have a player with a quite a reputation for postseason performance.
Brayden Randle, a 45-game starter this year on the Ole Miss Rebels' College World Series team, has committed to Texas Tech by way of the NCAA transfer portal. Randle, a Texan who went to Rockwall High School, announced for the Red Raiders on social media.
Randle was batting .200 on April 21, but went on a tear the last several weeks. During Ole Miss's eight-game postseason, Randle hit safely in every game, going 12 for 28 for a .429 average with a home run and 7 runs batted in. The home run came in the Rebels' season-ending loss to Troy at the CWS, where they went 0-2.

Randle made 38 starts at shortstop, four in the outfield and three as the designated hitter. His late surge raised his average to .259 with career highs of 4 homers, 23 RBIs and 17 walks. On seven occasions, he drove in what proved to be the winning run or a tying run in a game the Rebels eventually run.
Ole Miss swept the NCAA Lincoln Regional in three games, winning two against Arizona State and one against host Nebraska. Randle went 5 for 10 with an RBI in each game and made the all-tournament team.
As an Ole Miss freshman in 2024, he played in 43 games, starting 34, and batted .204 with 2 homers and 14 RBIs. As a sophomore in 2025, he played in 33 games, starting 18, and hit a career-high .286 with a homer and 10 RBIs.
Randle, listed by the Rebels at 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, bats lefthanded and throws righthanded.
Randle is Tech's 10th pledge from the transfer portal this off-season and the fourth who was a starter in the Southeastern Conference. The latter group includes catcher Owen Jenkins from Kentucky, shortstop-third baseman K.J. Scobey from South Carolina and first baseman-outfielder Ashton Larson from Texas.
The Red Raiders are losing eight position players who started at least 45 games. Tech's team batting average of .344 was second out of 304 teams in NCAA Division I, and its 8.6 runs per game average was 11th.
