OXFORD — Ole Miss baseball filled its need for a corner outfielder with one of the top players in the Big Ten.
Indiana left fielder Caleb Koskie is transferring to Ole Miss. He announced the news in a social media post on July 16.
Koskie batted .372 with 55 hits, 28 runs scored, 11 doubles, six home runs in 2026 as a sophomore. He is from Excelsior, Minnesota and the son of Corey Koskie, who played nine seasons in the MLB from 1998-2006, most notably with the Minnesota Twins.
The Rebels are getting a player who strikes out little. Koskie had a 22-game hitting streak for the Hoosiers and had more walks (28) than strikeouts (23). His batting average in 2026 was No. 2 across the Big Ten.
Koskie also had a perfect fielding percentage on 80 attempts.
Although Hayden Federico is returning for Ole Miss in centerfield, the Rebels are losing both corner outfielders from the 2026 College World Series team.
Right fielder Tristan Bissetta graduated and signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. Left field was a rotational spot for the Rebels. Brayden Randle, who played there in the NCAA Tournament for the Rebels, has entered the transfer portal. Tate Sirmans, who made 12 starts in left field in 2026, transferred to Southern Georgia.
Incoming Houston utility player Blake Fields could fill out the outfield with Federico and Koskie in 2026. He played some in left in 2026, batting .261 with the Cougars with three home runs and recording more walks (34) than strikeouts (29).
