And Murray had zero talent left to clinch anything at the end of the 2021 season. And by the end of the season, every defense in the league had Kingsbury figured out. ABSOLUTELY nothing to due with how Murray played. Amazing that there are those like you out there that will argue the FACTS that I’ve provided.
And what about the pathetic collapse the prior season in 2020… you know when we we 6-3 and he proceeded to somehow lose to the Cam Newton Patriots to start a embarassing 2-5 tailspin that STILL had us in position to clinch a playoff spot at 8-6, at home, when he still had D-Hop and a great running game and all he had to do was beat the 3-13 injury ravaged Niners AT HOME playing their 3rd string QB and KYLER was FREAKING AWFUL, leading us to a putrid 9 points and led us to a humiliating home loss… again to a 3-13 JV TEAM NINERS SQUAD.

Or how about the next week when, yet again, he had a chance to win and get in but he stunk again against the Rams backup QB with a chance to clinch a playoff spot.

Whats your excuse for the pathetic collapse of that season where Hop and the entire offense was healthy and he flat out stunk down the stretch?

Dude, I'll rephrase out of respect for you and your posts, Mr. Dude, yes, they figured-out Kingsbury's offense due to the limitations of Kyler's ability to see over the middle. Why do you think we threw all those WR's screens? Murray couldn't throw a slant to save his life because the line blocked his view. Murray is a quick/fast athlete but he was just unfortunate to not grow another two inches. You're a cards fan and Murray is no longer a player for the team. Time to jump on the Love Boat..........sorry, I had to, ironically that show just started on our tv...LOL

MHJ is going in the 6th round and Addison is going 9th/10th. I’d much rather roll with Addison two rounds later.

What people are missing is that the Cards have been force-feeding Marv targets to get those mid-level results. If you have three healthy targets plus you expect Love to get 60-70 targets, Marv will have to be much much more efficient to get those 800/8 that you might be expecting.

I think Addison is +/-8% of whatever Marvin gets.

Marvin didn’t earn many doubles after his first few appearances when teams realized he was Not It. Teams plays a ton of zone against us and we couldn’t really do anything about it.
respectfully disagree - marv in petzings offense was FAR from force fed, he almost never had double digit targets and was often used as the sacrificial X receiver

This may be one of these things where the proof is in the pudding this year. Marv is in a much more WR friendly offense- I expect him to flourish- you obviously disagree. Let's both hope I'm right

Totally agree with this post. MHJ was never force fed the ball. When guys like Nabers were seeing 15+ targets, MHJ was lucky to see 5 or 6. I was yelling at my tv for them to make more of an effort to get him double digit targets regardless of the outcome.

My man, 10+ targets a game is an insane definition of high-volume targeting. Only 2 players had 170+ targets last season.

Marv has had 189 targets in 29 pro games. If you screen out the last two games from last season, he’s averaging almost 7 targets per game. Over 17 games that’s more than 116 targets.

That would be top 20 last year at the same time McBride was getting 169 targets.

He was not being ignored by Petzing.

Revisionist history. We were in so many "Win and you're in" games that year and we never got it done. Totally backed into the playoffs. Kyler NEVER won a division or playoff clinching game. Never.

We clinched that playoff berth in Week 16 after losing to the Colts, when the Rams beat the Vikings. It was entirely reliant on other teams' results—no direct clinch via their own win.

So, no one led us to the playoffs, unless you want to credit the Rams who then stomped us right out of the playoffs.

Who was the MVP of the 2021 team Brian?

"Led Arizona to the playoffs?" LMAO

Won a bunch of games early then nearly choked away the playoffs; Literally Backed into the playoffs that season due to other teams play and choked once on the biggest stage of his career. Kurt Warner and Carson Palmer and even Jake Plummer AND Drew Stanton LED our team to the playoffs. Not Kyler.

If we are gonna give Kyler credit why not Max Hall? At least Max looked as ready as he could.....

Tried cleaning your mess up brother....

The Cardinals not making the playoffs in 2020 had far more to do with a below average roster and coaching staff than it had to do with Kyler Murray. Without Murray, that 2020 team would have won 2-3 games at best. And that pretty much sums up Kyler’s entire stay in AZ. Crap OL, crap OC, crap D, and a whole bunch of injuries to whatever good players we may have had.

Yeah, the "generational talent" QB has nothing to do with anything lol You know it's the opposite of generational when you can't lead your team, excuses aside, to a victory over a backup to get to the playoffs, right? Right?

Take away Kyler's scrambling out of trouble ability & what do you have? A 5' nothing QB that can't see over the OL. The "Generational Talent" label was more about his scrambling ability than anything else lol.

There was nothing “generational” about Kyler Murray when he got drafted. Not size. Not running ability. Not his arm. Not his college record.

People gotta stop buying in to dumb draft narratives posted to get clicks.
It's a matter of posters here still thinking it lol

I’m curious.

This was before my time here.

How long did it take for this board to stop talking about Leinart after his exit?

Not this long… not even close. But he was kind of a flash in the pan compared to Kyler’s time here.

Not very long. He was consistently at the end of camp and was only a starter for 17 games here.

The closest analogue is probably Jake Plummer. That was before my time here but I imagine it was similar.

It was Jake was talked about for quite sometime after going to Denver. And he obviously had some success there. I do think it was the board previous to this one though, but I can’t remember for sure not that it matters. Similar behaviors I would say.

He was definitely a generational athlete but he never found it as a passer. Lamar did.

McBride was talking to the media this off season, saying he was almost never the designed first read. That his stats came despite 1st reads specifically for him being extremely rare.

Michael Wilson was asked why he had no stats with Kyler but absurd stats with Jacoby. He said the reason was when Kyler was here he exclusively played Z, and didn't get ANY designed 1st reads. But when he played with Jacoby, he got to be the X.

Putting 2 and 2 together, all the first reads in the offense went to the X receiver. MHJ has been the X whenever he has been on the field. The entire offense was designed to give MHJ an absurd target share and make him a star. So why hasnt he been getting any targets? Targets for WRs are earned not given, even if you're the designed 1st read the QB still won't give you the target if you're not getting open or you're not in the right place. MHJ has gotten punked 1 on 1 by incredibly mediocre DBs his entire career. We've seen him absolutely embarrassed by guys like Michael Jackson and Tariq Woolen.

So what happened when Michael Wilson was given a chance to play the "MHJ role" in Petzing's offense? What happened when MHJ got hurt and Michael Wilson got to play X?

During Michael Wilson's 8 week stretch from weeks 11-18 he earned the 2nd most targets in the league, 88, out earning McBride for targets. More targets than Puka Nacua and JSN. He posted the 2nd best contested catch rate in the league, slightly behind Puka and tied with George Pickens. If that 8 week run had been extend to 17 games he would have gotten 1645 yards. The majority of these stats weren't in garbage time soft coverage either, he was putting Derek Stingley on skates in the 1st quarter. He did this despite the defense not having to worry about a running game or any other threats besides McBride.

Some fans thought Petzing was calling an entirely new offense. Nope, same offense, just with a much better WR getting the 1st reads. If MHJ was a superstar level talent, he would have gotten 1800 yards (or been on pace before the injury) the way Petzing's offense was designed.
