NEW YORK — The Mets' painstaking first half will come to a close on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Sox already wrapped up a series win with a 4-0 result on Saturday. Now, the Mets will look to land a positive result heading into the All-Star break with Sunday's 1:40 p.m. finale at Citi Field.

The Mets will turn to rookie right-hander Zach Thornton, who is making his third career start. He is coming off a six inning quality start back on June 26 against the Phillies.

The Red Sox will counter with left-hander Payton Tolle, who brings a 5-6 record and 3.14 ERA into his 15th start of the season;
