ATLANTA — The Mets' have a near-immediate chance to wipe away some of the frustration of their first two games in Atlanta.
A little more than 12 hours after the Mets were blown away in a dispiriting 14-3 loss on Saturday night, the Mets and Braves will continue their series at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Truist Park.
There were not many positives to take away from Saturday's loss, which featured a critical fielding miscue by Tyrone Taylor and five more home runs surrendered by Mets pitching. It dropped them to a season-low 17 games under .500 at 36-53.
The Mets will be hoping that Nolan McLean can continue to provide a lift. Last time out, the rookie right-hander kept the Blue Jays off the board for six innings while striking out seven. He enters Sunday with a 5-5 record and 3.78 ERA.
The Braves have another capable arm on the mound as Martin Perez readies to make his 14th start of the season. The left-hander is 6-5 with a 3.27 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 17 appearances.
