I would think that if you’re trying to sell AZ to Kubiak, you better get him in for the interview before he goes to Vegas. Whoever interviews first has the opportunity to offer the job right then and he has the option of canceling the other interview.

They may have told lafleur the job is his if Kubiak says no….fingers crossed….our luck lafleur be like “ now I want 2 million more per than we agreed to” ……which would give bidwill an excuse to go call vance

Just a couple of thoughts. While I put the chances at Kubiak as slim, there are a couple of things about the raiders that aren’t so hot rosters aside.

1. They have fired 4 coaches in the last 5 years. Clearly Davis is not a patient owner, that would scare me if I was a candidate.
Bidwill on the other hand seems much more forgiving.

2. Everyone says who would want to coach in the NFC West it’s got elite teams. Well the AFC West ain’t no cakewalk either, Chiefs, Broncos and Chargers….

This is the real tell. You don’t close on your weakest argument. The QB situation is a disaster.
The funniest part of this is for years Brit has made this VERY ARGUMENT that QB is what’s held us back and NOW it’s part of the sales pitch!?

To quote one of the board’s fallen heroes/organization’s most steadfast defenders, Tango…

Amazing! Simply, Amazing!

He can't sign anything or officially hired for another week, so he'd be dumb AF to cancel anything.

Yeah but they are getting Mendoza and have a better cap ….kubiak will pick the raiders or go back to Seattle…I just bought a case of beer for this weekend( Kentucky basketball fan) …I will pour out every drop of it if Kubiak is announced our coach tommorrow or Sunday….(by the way I am a St. Louis baseball fan too)…..I got three crappy teams…..

When we trade Kyler we get $38m cap space back.

They have Mendoza and an absolutely dire roster. 90% odds they have a losing season next year.

I could sell the Cards easy. "We had a tonne of injuries last year. This roster is better than the 8-9 2024 roster. You have a better chance to win in you're first year. We have young talent that the Raiders don't have and a much better offensive roster, and if you're the offensive mind we think you are a dual threat vet QB and former #1. Or we can move him for picks and $40b more cap space. Going into 27 we will do whatever we need to do at QB in a great class (if needed)."

I think if I were considering our HC job, I would want to hear:

Long term we're better because although we have some pieces in place you'll still have a long runway to build the culture and roster you need to win. We understand we need to change some of our processes and you'll have a prominent role their development.

We're not expecting miracles in 2026 and we are 100% committed to supporting you long term. We want this to be a 15 year relationship.

Isn’t this true with every organization? Whats unique about our this pitch?

Hard to sound credible when you just fired the last guy after 3 years.

Kubiak will pick the Cardinals or Raiders. He ain't going back to the Seattle. Schefty just confirmed it; Las Vegas or Arizona.

It's going to be all about the $ in the end

Short paying and we have to settle

That goes for the HC and his staff

Need to pay up to get a quality team of coaches

Not unique but at least self-aware.

And perhaps most importantly, if we're competing with LV, it would ring truer vs. similar language from that group.

I keep seeing a lot about Mendoza being a deciding factor and he may very well be...but is anyone trying to figure out where Mendoza would rank if he were among the 2027 draft eligible QBs?

I don't think the Cards would be meeting with Kubiak if they felt they didn't have a chance of getting him. None of us know what the key factors will be for Kubiak's decision. Just speculation. Although a contract can't be signed until after the Super Bowl, we should know his decision by Sunday or Monday.

That’s impossible to know without watching the college QB’s for another year. Mendoza and facilities are why the Raiders are a moderately better job.

Yeah my friend who coaches in the NFL has had to deal with this multiple time throughout his career. One thing I have noticed is that it definitely gets tougher to move as the kids get older.
I imagine a lot of them must just keep an apartment or rental condo where they work and fly back and forth.

Listen, the best way to sell this job is to talk about the good weather (to yinz crazy bastards that don't like the cold :) ) and golf opportunities. Seriously.
