Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Kubiak will have a second interview with the Cardinals in addition to the Raiders. Kubiak is expected to land one of the two remaining openings.

Kubiak is in his first season as the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks, after one season as offensive coordinator with the Saints.

He served as the offensive passing game specialist for the 49ers in 2023, after spending the 2022 season as the offensive passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach for the Broncos.

To what purpose? It’s not like these were just young assistants; a lot of them had no or almost no NFL experience. Plus, IIRC we had one of the smallest staffs in the NFL.
In 2023 they had 23 total coaches, from what I can see. 7 retentions plus 15 additions and Gannon. They lost and added 7 in 2025. The average NFL team has between 15 and 20ish on staff.

So it appears that the Cardinals will end up with Morris, Weaver or LaFleur. Morris has experience as a head coach and is loved by players. Weaver has been an associate head coach. La Fleur is the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles. He met with the Cardinals over two days but left without a deal.

The process looks amateurish, but if it's LaFleur in the end and he's ultimately successful, then it wont matter.

Remember when UofA was trying to hire a coach and it ended up being Tommy Lloyd in the end? That process was pretty disorganized, too, but it was obviously worth it

Nobody here, or anywhere outside the FO, knows what the process has been. They haven't even released who they interviewed.

Everyone is making it what they want it to be.

With fans like you there is never a need for Bidwill, M. to do anything except what he has been doing.

This makes zero sense.

The stupid thing to do is just hire someone before you met all candidates. You have no idea what Kubiak thinks. You have to do a tonne of prep for these interviews and in the middle of preparing for a super bowl. You don't do all that for a job you have no interest in.

You, and others, are using it to crap on the Org as usual. If they hired Mike on Tuesday and it came out they declined a Kubiak interview you'd be complaining about that.

Because your primary interest is complaining no matter what.

Raiders have potential with fresh QB and some talent. Ownership is a wash.

Pete shouldn't have come back. He's toast. Raiders made a mistake. Hawks knew it and let him walk and now they are back in the SB.

Patriots are also back in the SB a few years after firing their hall of fa....errr regular coach.

Raiders are infinitely more attractive, but true no one knows his mindset.

Yeah man. Pete Carroll washed out between 74 and 75. Guess he found his limit.

Raiders are not more attractive. They are a all round dumpster fire. The only thing they have going for them is #1 pick and Spytek knows Kubiak.

They are not more attractive than the all around dumpster fire, non-first-overall-pick-holding, less-cap-space Arizona Cardinals? LOL Okay.

about the only potential negative i have on the Raiders job vs the Cards at this point is Tom Brady

as a HC, how do you feel about Tom Brady on the headset while also having the owners ear

On the headset is irrelevant. The owner's ear matters, and if he favoured my hiring, I'd feel pretty good about it.

...and have a great cap situation and the #1 overall pick in a draft with only one premium QB in the class. They have a far better situation for a coach than we do.

When we trade Kyler we get $38m cap space back.

They have Mendoza and an absolutely dire roster. 90% odds they have a losing season next year.

I could sell the Cards easy. "We had a tonne of injuries last year. This roster is better than the 8-9 2024 roster. You have a better chance to win in you're first year. We have young talent that the Raiders don't have and a much better offensive roster, and if you're the offensive mind we think you are a dual threat vet QB and former #1. Or we can move him for picks and $40b more cap space. Going into 27 we will do whatever we need to do at QB in a great class (if needed)."

That’s not necessarily true. An equal number of coaches on those teams are in transition. It can be a game of musical chairs where no one loses their seat; they just get shifted around.

Yeah was just going to say this. With so many teams making moves there's a tonne of talented and experienced coaches available.

the point here being: you have a guy who has the potential to second guess many, many decisions talking directly to the owner

I am not saying that this will happen, but it could happen

For what it's worth I think Kubiak goes to the Raiders if he doesn't stay in Seattle.

Not because we're less attractive, but because he already has a relationship with Spytek.

But it's still the right call to try. If LeFleur can't wait a few days then screw him, he wasn't right for the job then.

No matter who we pick, there will be slim pickings on assistants.

This really isn't true. For a start there's the entire Rams offensive and defensive staff.

Most, if not all, of the staffs of the Steelers, Dolphins, Brown's and all other teams except the Bills are available (assuming Bills keep most staff).

If its LeFleur your best odds for DC are Aubrey Pleasant and Alex van Pelt as OC.

maybe a better way of saying it is: worst case you dont lose any cap space in 2026 and gain lots of it in 27 and 28 --

and yes, 27 and 28 cap space can be easily used to sign players in the 26 offseason

Exactly. Teams aren't looking at single years of cap space. They look at 3/4 years.

The money we get back from Kyler in the future can be spent this year by just just structuring the contract accordingly.

There is no shortage of people, not named Tom Brady, with the ear of owners who can second-guess.

We should know on Sunday or Monday what they will do. I guess Kubiak will either tell them directly, or they will get a good sense.

I just pray that LaFleur wants the job. Having the chance to hire him, Kubiak or Weaver was a dream scenario when this process started.
I have told my wife multiple times the last couple of days, “don’t f*** this up, Cardinals. Don’t f**** this up, Cardinals. If they do, I will lose some motivation going into the offseason and next season.”

I think that Weaver is an option, simply because he is most likely out in Miami - and he would be a very good consolation prize. However, LaFleur or Kubiak have been the golden ones from the start, and it would be a travesty if the Cardinals miss out on LaFleur because they had to chase Kubiak.

Because I would be shocked if the Raiders don't get Kubiak. I mean, it’s an owner that last year immediately made Pete Carroll the fourth highest earning head coach in the NFL, and made Chip Kelly the highest paid coordinator with double the salary as the second highest. I am pretty confident that he will offer Kubiak a major contract. And I got confirmed this morning when I saw that Davis Webb had pulled out of the race. Sure, one of the insiders quickly reported that Ejiro Evero is still in the race, but I don’t believe he is a real candidate. In my mind, Kubiak is not leaving that meeting with them without a handshake-agreement.

And then I am back to “don’t f*** this up, Cardinals!” Get LaFleur!
