I guess we couldn’t have officially hired anyone yet anyways. I forgot that they had upped it to two inperson interviews with minority candidates.

Weaver must be a real candidate though...otherwise you just wait for Vance if he's really the pick.

Could be they really want Camp wrapped up, too and don't want to wait for Vance.

Who knows?

Steelers obviously dont think they're in for a tear down, they just hired an old guy that has all of Tomlins flaws and absolutely none of his positives. They're gonna draft Ty Simpson and pretend that they're still contenders.

Well that’s two birds with one stone I guess. Top job filled with a coach most don’t want.

And then there were four - Arizona, Buffalo, Cleveland, and Las Vegas.

So funny that the Steelers are an organization that many fans on this board look up to and wish we could achieve their level of success…. They hire Mike McCarthy. They would’ve clown the Cardinals for making such a move. The guy with a Super Bowl win and a 61% winning percentage as a head coach. Can’t make this stuff up.

No excuse for Cards not to call McDermott now. Only three choices for him. Only positive the Raiders have over us is the #1 pick. Lousy owner but has means to pay more than others. Cards and Browns have ownership warts as well. All have roster needs in many areas except the Browns have a good defense. Odds are he will go elsewhere or take a year off.

Cards fans thinking the franchise is too good for a Super Bowl winning coach with a record well above .500.

Peak Cards fans.
McCarthy is a worse version of Tomlin. All the same out of date schemes, none of the "leader of men"/personality management. McCarthy is 9 years OLDER than Tomlin. His rosters always underperform their talent level, and its been obvious hes the reason why because his game management is horrible.

He would have been fine for us, its very possible to get a coach worse than McCarthy. But you also are a fool if you think McCarthy can win a superbowl in the modern NFL.

For the Steelers he is BY FAR the worst hire they could have made.

The Steelers have a reputation for good ownership from when Dan/Art senior were in charge. Ever since 2017 they've had Art Rooney Jr., a blithering idiot nepo baby, as their own owner.

McCarthy has won in multiple spots including the very disfunctional cowturds.

“Can win a Super Bowl”

I just want us to win 12 games which McCarthy has done.

Again brother we are not wanting the same things from this next coach.
We are a terribly owned franchise that needs stability right now.

So out of date he went 12 and 5 3 years in a row with the Dallas Cowboys….. if that’s out of date give me some of that

The Cardinals are bringing in Anthony Weaver on Sunday for a second interview for their head coaching job, per sources.Weaver, the former NFL defensive end who most recently was Miami’s DC, is interviewing with the Bills today. He also is a finalist for the Steelers HC job.

I also agree that Weaver is interesting. I think I am starting to be more and more positive about him. After researching him, it is clear that he is a leader of a team and can manage many different characters. He is not necessarily a great playcaller, but he can lead a group. He is a lot like Bruce Arians in that he is a “coach them hard, hug them later”-kind of coach, yet his players would still go to war with him. Also, he has that warm and likeable personality.

The more I think about it, the more positive I become to the idea of Anthony Weaver as the head coach. Granted, Saleh, Kubiak and Mike LaFleur are still #1, #2 and #3 (and if Matt LaFleur becomes available he immediately becomes my favorite).

However, just a pure hunch is that Weaver is a very real option whereas I am more hesitant with the other three, so I thought I would like to check who might be his OC choice, and I would like to share it with you guys.

Actually, Weaver has a lot of interesting connections from his jobs the last several years.

For five years he was with the Texans, and through that time he was on the same coaching staff with, for example, Tim Kelly, who was the OC with the Giants this past season. He has previously had several years as the offensive coordinator for both the Texans and Titans. He also worked with Ossenfort for a year in Tennessee.

A little “fun” guess could be Bill O’Brien, who was Weaver's boss for five years. O’Brien also had a relationship throughout many years with Ossenfort. He is currently the head coach at Boston College, though, so it might be stretching it to have him as a candidate.

Some years ago, Weaver worked with Todd Monken at Baltimore. Monken has just been let go, along with Harbaugh, and has had at least one head coach-interview. I don’t think he is a realistic candidate as a head coach, though. He has many years of OC-experience.

At Miami, Frank Smith was the OC who McDaniel brought in immediately when he became the head coach. He has also had head coaching-interviews in the past.

Darrell Bevell was the quarterback coach with the Dolphins. He has many years of OC-experience as well as two times as an interim head coach. He was with the Seahawks for six or seven years, so he knows the division.

Bobby Slowik came to the Dolphins at the same time as Weaver. It’s only a couple of years ago that he had multiple head coaching-interviews after being the OC during C.J. Stroud’s great rookie season. Previously, Slowik worked many years with the Niners after being headhunted by Shanahan.

I know that this could very well be a completely irrelevant post in not-so-long. I just thought it was interesting, and I think the main point is that there are several interesting candidates that he potentially could bring with him.

By the way, like Campanile, Weaver also has a popular video. He feels a little like Dan Campbell:

I feel like I have a responsibility to ask, @slanidrac16 are you close to any ledges? Access to firearms? Where can we send a well check?

All joking aside I get the frustration. I do think we will all be pleasantly surprised once the hire is announced.
lol. I’m fine :) . It’s just I am not going to fall for the BS this organization is going to throw at us and once again expect us to buy it.
Whatever they decide history has shown they’ll probably be wrong.
The optimism has been sucked out of me. Going forward it’s skepticism and mainly because poor Mikey can’t operate like the “Big Boys”.
