I've used both

I used netflix back in 2002 and currently use blockbuster online

netflix was fine ... good turnaround, good selection ... the only problem I had was a theiving mailman and a company that refused to believe a college kid

blockbuster online also has a great selection, turnaround just as good (if not better)

I think if you are doing purely online rentals they are very similar .. the package is about the same, the queing system is about the same, ranking and recommendations are about the same

what puts blockbuster over the top for me is that they offer 2 free in store rentals everymonth, along with some other promotional coupons

it's hard to rent a spur of a moment movie when all you have is online ... i like the flexibility of also getting 2 fee instores

Well, I will be your biggest help here. along with Osprey!

Blockbuster hands down.

You get it for fairly cheap, you get two free in-store coupons a month, and sometimes other deals, like I just got a free used DVD for no reason other than they gave me a coupon online to print out.

It's great, we love it, and would never use Netflix again.

I went with Blockbuster because of price and since then they've been having a running battle and both keep cutting cost. I think currently Netflix is cheaper but the price is low enough I have no interest in switching.

I have had 3 DVD's that were unwatchable but I hear it's even worse with Netflix. I get mine fast, I haven't used the free coupons because my local blockbuster closed and I'm too lazy to find another one(that's the whole reason I get them online). But the coupons are a good deal.

Blockbuster blows. Every movie they rent is edited down. Fees. Crowds. Clerks.

Netflix rules.

If you know what you want, it is way too easy. No fees. No surly clerks. No crowds. Keep 3 rentals going or just wait until you are ready. 30( ultimately ) flix for 19.95 per month. That is value.

Blockbuster has a mail program also.

Sure did.

That is what I was responding to. Seems quite appropriate to me.

So what gives?

I was thrown off when you stated that when you deal with Netflix you get this:

No fees. No surly clerks. No crowds. Keep 3 rentals going or just wait until you are ready.

The same is true with Blockbuster on-line. You don't deal with crowds, clerks or late fees.

Except I pay $14.99 / mo and keep 3 movies at a time and get coupons for in-store rentals.

I boycott anything Wayne Huizenga owns or has owned. He is our local despot. He and his organization are scoundrels. They drove every Mom & Pop video store out of business , treat their employees like crap and ruined the Dolphins.

Well then, say that, don't make up crap about fees and crowds for an online service, lol.

I actually thought we were comparing Blockbuster walk in brick and mortar store to Netflix online. Since my comments are irrelevant, I have deleted them.

I hate Blockbuster!

I'm so happy with Netflix. Mainly because I never have to go back to Blockbuster and also for the convenience of it.
