Milford Schools announced it's implementing a new leadership structure designed to strengthen support for athletics, extracurricular activities, and student engagement across grades 7–12 while maintaining a commitment to fiscal responsibility.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, the district will adopt a collaborative leadership model that brings together athletics, extracurricular programs and student activities under a team of experienced educational leaders.

Mark Trout will serve as Milford Schools Director of Athletics, providing oversight and leadership for athletic programs across grades 7 to 12. Trout brings 33 years of leadership experience to the position, including the last 21 years as an athletic administrator.

“I am honored to continue serving Milford Schools in this expanded role,” Trout said in a press release. "Over the past 33 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside outstanding student-athletes, coaches, families and staff members who have helped build a strong tradition of excellence. I look forward to continuing to support and strengthen the athletic programs that make Milford such a special place for our students.”

Josh McDaniel will continue serving Milford Schools athletics as assistant athletic director with expanded leadership responsibilities. Since joining the district in 2024, McDaniel has worked closely with student-athletes, coaches and families to support athletic programming and student success.

John Cole joins Milford Schools as assistant athletic director. He holds a bachelor of science in sports management from Mount St. Joseph University and most recently served as assistant director of athletics at Norwood City Schools, where he also led the varsity baseball program as head coach.

Christy Gregory will transition into the role of associate principal of student activities at Milford High School. She served as Milford High School’s softball coach for 24 seasons and most recently served as the school’s 12th-grade assistant principal.

In this position, Gregory will oversee athletic and extracurricular programs, events and activities for grades 7–12 while serving as a liaison to booster organizations, parent groups, and community partners that support athletics, fine arts, and student activities.

“Milford Athletics has been a major part of my life for more than two decades, and I am excited for the opportunity to serve students in this new capacity,” Gregory said. "Throughout my career as a coach and assistant principal, I have been passionate about helping students reach their full potential. I look forward to supporting student success across all extracurricular programs and helping create meaningful opportunities that allow every student to grow, connect, and thrive.”
