Anybody that's going to basic training I tell them "be the gray man" - which is basically the same concept
I worked at a business where the bosses basically told us this in a company wide meeting. It wasn't the usual try and achieve rah rah speech, but hide in the middle so you don't get laid off.

You don't think that sometimes, the best way to learn is by failing wildly? I am a "successful" business owner now because I learned what NOT to do in several stops along the way in my career, and have made enough mistakes of my own, to help me the next time a similar situation arose. Just because Hackett wasn't a good head coach, doesnt mean he didnt learn how to impart what NOT to do on others, or even himself.

Sure, it teaches you what not to do, it doesn't teach you what you should do.

Could Aubrey Pleasant end up on Mike LaFleur's staff in some capacity since he's not gonna be the Rams defensive pass coordinator and assistant head coach in the 2026 season?

Oh! Pleasant was the guy that Dan Campbell fired mid season in 2022. I remember the Lions had a massive turn around after he was fired. The Rams pass defense was also underwhelming.

I'm really glad he's not our defensive coordinator. I guess its not surprising the Rams aren't retaining him.

I get your point.

Also this: how excited would you have been to have MLF lean on Steve wills’ learning experience?

Yes!
He joined the Arizona Cardinals coaching staff as coach of defensive backs in 2007. In 2009, he helped the team reach Super Bowl XLIII, where the Cardinals would lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl.

Ironically enough, it was due to a DB failure.
