That doesn't surprise me. Thankfully A-hole billionaires are getting called out today like never before, but yet they still get away with basically everything. My question is why does the NFL go after say Daniel Snyder, but turn their head with the likes of Jones? I know the answer. it was to save face. Jerry is a bad guy and has done a lot of bad things to people. There's a rumor in Dallas that Jerry settled a NDA for M. Irvin when Irvin violently assaulted a teammate at the training camp barber shop. and I liked Michael Irvin the player, but no one should be above the law. and no NFL owner should be engaging in that type of behavior, yet who knows how many times Jerry has done that. He did it with his own daughter. Beyond that as a fan I am sick of Jerry because he is a fraud and is a cheap skate. He is not the risk taker and big spender that he made everyone to believe initially in the 90's. and it is finally starting to catch up with his team. You can tell the players don't like him and the fans are starting to finally not care anymore. The latter though doesn't matter because yet there are still enough fans that are filling his stadium.I've told this story many times here, but in the 1988 season, I was a member of the Dallas Cowboys Band - a horns and rhythm section band that played in the stands during games. This was Tom Landry's last season as coach. After Jerry purchased the team, we all signed contracts for the 1989 season, and were hired to play at the ceremony at Dallas City Hall to honor Coach Landry. We were to be paid (80 measly bucks per person) for this gig in the '89 season, according to the contract. Well, Jerry then decided that he was going to do away with live music and go with pre-recorded music and let us all go. And, he didn't pay us for the Tom Landry Day gig. Needless to say, we were all PISSED. A couple of the guys met with some of Jerry's thugs and were told that if we fought him on this, they would make sure we wouldn't be working in the DFW Metroplex for the foreseeable future. It felt very Mafia-like.
I ended up playing a number of gigs with various cover bands for Jerry over the next few years - whenever he would take to the stage to address the crowds, I'd always yell "YOU OWE ME MONEY". Not surprisingly, he never acknowledged me.
