Update, July 2: Congratulations to Addison Kuebler of Farmington Hills Mercy for being voted the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.



It's time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Girls Prep Athlete of the Season.

This week's poll features five players – three basketball, one volleyball and one field hockey – who were some of our highest votegetters from the 2025-2026 high school sports season.

Voting will close at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 2.

Here are the nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name):

Chloe Bullinger, Tecumseh, basketball​

Bullinger won the Athlete of the Week campaign for the week of March 8-14 following her 30 point-performance in Tecumseh's 58-39 regional final victory or Parma Western on March 11. Tecumseh reached the state finals for the second consecutive year but fell short to Goodrich, 55-44. Bullinger averaged 9.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.2 steals this season and became the program's all-time record holder in assists (458) and steals (282). She was an honorable mention on the Free Press's Division 2 All-State team and selected to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan's Division 2 All-State team.

Samantha Fuhs, Dearborn Divine Child, basketball​

Fuhs won the Jan. 18-24 campaign after scoring a season-high 30 points, going 9-for-16 from the field (including six 3s) in a 68-62 loss to Farmington Hills Mercy. She averaged 14.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 steals and two assists and made 78% of her shots from the 3-point line.

Kuebler was a top vote getter during the fall season during the inaugural season of field hockey. The junior defender for the Marlins was the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player after recording 134 stops this season.

Leah Poggiolo, Utica Eisenhower, basketball​

Poggiolo was the winner of the Feb. 1-7 campaign after scoring a weekly total of 24 points in Eisenhower's two games against Utica and Macomb Dakota. The then-sophomore averaged 11 points per game, along with five rebounds and two assists and steals this season, which saw Eisenhower advance to the state semifinals for the first time in 44 years.

Eleanor Williams, Romeo, volleyball​

Williams won the Nov. 2-8 campaign after leading Romeo to two wins over Utica Eisenhower and Auburn Hills Avondale to advance to the regional finals of the 2025 MHSAA volleyball tournament. The rising senior's season stats include 441 kills, 285 digs, 66 blocks and 54 aces.
