Meet Louisville-area high school boys athlete of the week nominees

The nominees for this week's Courier Journal boys athlete of the week delivered on Louisville-area baseball fields and volleyball courts.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal's boys athlete of the week. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Here are the nominees:

Briley Codey, St. Xavier volleyball​

Senior had 12 kills, five blocks, six digs and two aces in a 25-15, 25-18, 25-21 victory over Trinity on May 6 in the Fifth Region championship match.

Kody Coomer, Butler baseball​

Senior was 5 for 5 with three doubles, five runs scored and six RBIs in a 17-7 victory over Fern Creek on May 9.

Matthew Mulhall, DeSales baseball​

Senior allowed a run and two hits and struck out eight over six innings in a 7-2 victory over Oldham County on May 4.

Brennan Walters, Spencer County baseball​

Junior was 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs in a 16-1 rout of Shelby County on May 7.

Henry Zimmerman, Bullitt Central baseball​

Senior was 3 for 5 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored in a 14-5 victory over Bullitt East on May 7.
