The Miami Marlins recognized four outstanding minor leaguers with the June Next Wave Awards on Friday.

Miami's Next Wave Awards honor players who have stellar months that align with the club's evaluation and development model. Their performances during the month highlight skills that translate to the Major Leagues if called up.

Listed below are the four winners, the teams they play for, and a quick breakdown of their stats throughout the month.

Brandon White, Pitcher of the Month

White plays for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate. The right-handed pitcher started four games for the Jumbo Shrimp and posted a 4-4 win-loss record.

It was a rough start for White in June. He gave up 11 combined runs in his two losses, which equaled out to a 10.13 ERA. White bounced back with two straight victories and 18 total strikeouts.

He tallied 11 strikeouts against the Gwinnett Swipers and seven against the Memphis Redbirds.

Cam Cannarella, Hitter of the Month

Cannarella plays for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Marlins' Double-A affiliate. The left-handed hitter recorded 22 runs, 28 hits, six home runs and 19 RBI in 84 at-bats.

He had a .333 batting average and a .583 slugging percentage. Cannarella had six multi-run games, including four straight games of two runs or more.

Miami's Hitter of the Month also had eight multi-hit games, including three hits against the Birmingham Barons.

Juan Matheus, Defensive Player of the Month

Matheus also plays for the Blue Wahoos, alongside Cannarella. The 5-foot-9 shortstop also plays second and third base for Pensacola.

He has played 51 innings at second base and 151 innings at third base. Matheus has recorded 23 total putouts, 42 assists, three double plays turned and only two errors.

His defense has been stellar throughout the entire season for the Blue Wahoos.

Dillon Head, Baserunner and Fish of the Month

Head plays for the Beloit Sky Carp, Miami's High-A affiliate in Wisconsin. The 5'10 center fielder had 42 total bases throughout June.

He recorded 16 stolen bases and was also a valuable hitter for the Sky Carp. Head appeared at-bat 87 times and tallied 25 hits, 19 runs, 12 RBI and three home runs.

The 21-year-old was the No. 25 pick for the San Diego Padres in the 2023 draft. All four Next Wave award winners have displayed skills that could see them called up to the Majors, whether it's with the Marlins or another team.
