Golden told us this himself via Twitter on Aug. 1, around the last time he wore a helmet.

“Underpaid, Underappreciated and Undervalued!!! But I’m still working!!! #LetsGetIt.”

That hashtag could refer to both quarterbacks and cash. Because Golden had done an adequate job of doing the first, pressuring and sacking quarterbacks, he should get more of the second.

Writing that a player deserves more money is sure to flush out the folks who think athletes are overpaid, or at least should honor the contracts they signed.

It’s a noble stance to take when discussing professional athletes who make guaranteed salaries. But most in the NFL do not. Owners and general managers don’t hesitate to ask players they deem to have underperformed to take a trim on paydays. Not left unsaid is that refusal means being released.

If Golden is staging a hold-in, attending but not participating in practices with the hope of getting a raise, then good, he deserves it.

He is in the second year of a two-year deal worth $5 million, not counting incentives. In average money earned per season, that ranks him 80th among edge rushers, according to overthecap.com.

But why did he sign (with a big smile) the two year extension last year? We knew already it was a bargain his contract, but he didn't even receive offers to turn his head, and never happen also after his first stint with the Cardinals
Probably the nfl franchises are aware that his lack of athleticism making him a liability against the run

That was before he had 11 sacks last year.

Big topic on 98.7 today. More insinuations of cash issues with the Cardinals

No, sorry, this isn't cash issues. If the Cards want to give him a pay bump, they can easily do that. When you talk cash issues on hundreds of millions of dollars worth of contracts? Yeah, sure, I'll buy cash flow problems. For this? Not a chance. If the Cards are unable to pony up a mill or 2, the ownership has to get out of the business. Of course, in reality, they can easily cough that up--if they want to. We all know this.

It all ties into the timing of everything.

Why wait forever to extend Murray? Then you have the Humphries extension after that.

That meant you couldn't spend on free agency. Now you are sitting on 17 million in cap space.

Where is the urgency for a team that wants to compete for a home field Super Bowl?

It's little things like this that just seem off. Heck, this year was the first year ever they didn't host the club member training camp with free drinks and food.

This team has made it glaringly obvious that they have no desire to fight for a championship, even in a down NFC. Like Ken Kendrick/Sarver, MB is just happy to be at the table!

When you spend 1/4 billion on your QB and 85 million on a new airplane You have to make cuts somewhere…. Free hot dogs and tater tots/garlic fries just can’t be done anymore :)

There's no way the team gets the cash poor excuse for all of these things. They're not that cash poor--they're poorly run.

So, everything is off because you didn't get your free drinks and food?

Golden has never strung together two consecutive years of double digit sacks. He's also missed a fair number of games. I think he's underpaid at $2.5 million. A bump to $4-4.5 million is reasonable I think.
I think you could easily bump him to 6 for the year. The question is how to contractually execute it.

So, everything is off because you didn't get your free drinks and food?

The entire club level didn't get an event that has been hosted by the team for years without explanation. That's several thousand people.

Odd right?

We waited to restructure all our contracts to free up more money until after we couldn't spend it on anyone.

Odd right?

Hudson's situation and not dealing with it. Not addressing the corner situation. Michael putting in a study clause based on the value of the contract and not the player.

There is a ton off. It's just all symptoms of a root cause. It's either just incredible systemic ineptitude or it's money. I am not sure which is worse.
