Louisville basketball assistant coach Thomas Carr is leaving Pat Kelsey's coaching staff.
Carr, who has been with Kelsey since the 2022-23 season at Charleston, is taking a similar position under Darian DeVries at Indiana, a source close to the program confirmed to The Courier Journal on Wednesday.
In January, Carr was named to the 2026 edition of Silver Waves Media's 100 Most Impactful High Major Assistants list.
"Thomas Carr truly embodies all of the essential talents to be a highly effective assistant coach in this new era of college basketball," Kelsey said in a statement when the Cardinals announced Carr was joining the staff in April 2024. "His recruiting network is vast — as he is wired like few I've been around at the grassroots, high school and junior college levels. His ability to connect and build trust with players is elite."
Louisville finished Year 2 under Kelsey with a record of 24-11 after entering the 2026 portion of its schedule at 11-2. The Cards notched back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in more than a decade and won their first March Madness game since 2017, 83-79 over 11th-seeded South Florida.
