I guess it's not surprising, many of the same personalities are involved. It's just not too fun to have sentences taken out of context and get labels like "Jake Basher" or "Green apologist". Or, being told "don't read it if you don't like it", or "turn the dial". That sort of stuff kills dialogue and leads to namecalling eventually.

I agree 100%

It is no fun to have dozens of posts reduced down a single label just because part of what you said is disagreed with.

I was on here protesting long before they hired Green saying I didn't want the guy but now I actually agree with most of what he has done.

Cutting Kendall I scratch my head at but in the long run it's his team and whatever he thinks is best is fine by me I will judge him as most others by the product he puts on the field.

I loved Mac's character just his product stank and I dislike Green so if his product stinks I will howl even louder for his head. I just happen to also believe Green is on the right track to fixing things but that in no way makes me a Green lover at all.

Great post. I share your sentiments. (although I'm not sure that I'm convinced yet that Green is on the right track. He may be. "We'll just have to see". )

So let me see if I got this straight. People here are whining about Jurecki and yet they listen to him thereby giving him an audience. You don't like what he is saying, turn the dial.

People are doubting what he says, Again, you don't believe him, turn the dial. Why waste your time listening to someone you don't even think is giving you worthwhile info?

Fine. I will jump aboard the bandwagon and never mention that skinny radio guy who will now remain nameless. Green should not be questioned in his moves. Everything he does is right. If I dislike a decision, I will simply agree with him 100% anyways and allow myself to become a follower of the Green religion.

I actually feel "saved" from a football fan life of misery now. The dialogue from here will be positively pro-Green.

Huh????

I honestly don't understand how your response relates to my post at all. In fact, I'd say it's a prime example of how "overreacting" and "being wound too tight" kills dialogue. If you need that sort of drama, okay. But there's absolutely no way I said you had to blindly agree with Green's moves.

Dude calm down.

I am at work during his show, so someone better post what he says.

You seem to be taking this personally, maybe not, but it does appear that way.

Why do you suggest that everything Jurecki says is the Gospel?

well it's about time you came around! :D

I gotta say Cubbie - you sure have seemed to be kind of, uh, what's a nice way to say this - outspoken this offseason - funny seeing as how we tended to agree on a lot before Green came on board. Personally - some of his moves have defintely had me scratching my head - but I'm taking a wait and see attitude based on a couple of things.

1) This team was HORRENDOUS last year and if it wasn't a candidate for MAJOR shake-ups and major rebuilding - I don't know what team was.

2) We've NEVER had a coach who wasn't a player's coach (except Buddy) and I think most of the people here just aren't used to a stern authoritarian figure - it remains to be seen how it works out - but it was defintely time for the pendulum to swing to the other side.

3) and I hate to sound like VF - but Green did put together comptetive teams year after year after year. Granted most of those teams were playoff pretenders - but we're talking about the Cardinals here so if we could get anywhere near the P-word in a sentence - why not give it a shot.

I don't know maybe you've followed him more closely having been a Bears fan and maybe that's where a little animosity on your part lingers - and I'm sure you've said all of this before - but what is it exactly that has you so predisposed to ragging on Green - There's been headscratchers, but there's also been positive moves - FA and the draft so far this offseason - interested in your response.

He's just upset because the baseball Cardinals are a jillion games ahead of the Cubs and the loveable losers are choking in the wild card as well. :D

1. Lay off Tango. He's entitled to express his opinions.
2. Tango, please quit insulting people.
3. Nidan is right. Mike Jurecki gives you straight scoop. It may be wrong, but the guy is a nice guy who works his ass off covering the Cards. And no, he's not a McGinnis apologist. Nobody liked Mac more than I did, but he had to go, and Jurecki agrees.
4. Give Green the same rope we gave Mac. He deserves three years.
5. This is preseason people. New coach, new scheme, new players, freak injuries. Patience.

here's my take on this the Cards and this thread:
1.I can't believe all the people after Green after ONE meaningless pre-season game.
2.Cutting Pete Kendall will have absolutely zero effect on the number of games the Cards win this year.
3.Everyone was all giddy after a 4-0 pre-season last year and we finished 4-12.
4.Mac was a good guy, terrible coach. And that whole staff was terrible.
5.I can't believe some people don't want,or think ,the Cards needed a new attitude adjustment.THey have had basically a status quo staff and mindset for the past 7 losing years.
6.Green needs a couple years just to infuse some actual football talent onto this team.THe Cards have beem the youngest, least talented team in the NFL for years.
7.The next good thing to happen to the Cards will the removal of all talent evaluation responsibilities for Graves. As a matter of fact, the complete removal of him would be great.
8.The Cards win 5-6 games,at most this year.
9.Alzheimer's may be making it's way into Tango's life ;)

I agree with some of what you said but the #6 confuses me. You appear to defend the cutting of kendall, but then you are complaining about the team being too young? Guess who is replacing the veteran kendall, 2 rookies. Guess how a team gets to be the youngest in the NFL, and stays there year after year? by playing a lot of rookies.

I just call 'em like I seem 'em...and don't always sugar coat it....as some evidently seem to expect from others in reaction to what they do.

Well Russ, you now as well as anyone that the Cards main problem has been keeping our actual young talent in the fold after their initial rookie contract is up.I mean the Cards way of doing business has been to let Simeon Rice go and re-siging a Chris Dishman. They've started to change their ways on that. What i meant is that any talent we have had is gone when they enter their prime and we constantly have a rookie laden team.I would have had no problem keeping Kendall but he's on his last legs and starting Stepanovich will actually be a talent upgrade in about 2-3 years.Which is what i was saying by getting a higher caliber NFL talent level within a couple of years. Just like i think Dockett, Dansby, and Fitzgerald are all a start, with their raw talent, to upgrading the talent base on this team. But i can definitetly see where you could read that as me contradicting myself.

I never saw that. Recently last years Seattle game seems to be brought up by some as one of the examples of that. .

Try Clevelan or Pitt. I saw them give up.

I was just reviewing the standings after week one of the pre-season.

Evidently, we are not the only team having problems scoring:

Points scored:

Atlanta: 0 - Green Bay 3 - Cleveland: 3 - Jacksonville: 5 - Philly: 6 - Cinn: 6 - Arizona: 6

Time to reconsider starting: Vick, Favre, Garcia, Leftwich, McNabb, Carson.... :D

gotcha Cbus. I just found it to be contrasting. FYI I do agree, 2-3 years Step will be a better Center than Kendall, of course in 2-3 years Pete will be retired (-: I like Step and I know you do but realistically he's not starting because we thought he was ready, he's starting because Green cut kendall, not really fair to the rest of the OL or to Step.

Grove was the only C in this draft who I felt could start right away and even he wasn't a lock.

I completely agree with starting Fitz and Dockett, my take on Dansby in college was great athlete, not necessarily consistent. Seemed a better athlete than a player, but he certainly has talent and with Thompson's size and Fisher's knees it makes sense to play them both at the same position as a tag team. I really like Hayes, I said that last year, if it were me on what I've seen of them I would start Hayes over Dansby. I suspect Green is playing Karlos because he's a better natural pass rusher, he's got some Jamir Miller in him in that regard.

I'd love to at some point this year or next see a Dansby, Hayes(MLB), and Fisher LB trio on the field, speed galore. I think hayes' experience inside in college may also have something to do with Dansby starting, Green may be preparing for Hayes ultimately replacing McKinnon, probably not this year though.

what are you trying to say? we should actually give the Cards some real time to gel, instead of just one preseason game before truly judging our offense? *shock and awe* PREPOSTEROUS!
