The finale was an abomination. Such low quality, stupid writing choices, and bad TV. I have to say, this was a terrible season. After absolutely loving S1, I have serious doubts about watching S3. There were, what, 2 good episodes out of 7?

Let's put it this way. Everyone here knows my disdain for TWD. The last episode reminded me of the worst of TWD.

They are stretching part two of the game into seasons 2 and 3, so not quite uncharted territory yet. The question is, if they do a fourth season with that go past the game or are they going to try to stretch part 2 of the game into seasons 2, 3, and 4.
I think if they had to do it again with 20/20 hindsight, they would have stretched part one of the game into 2 seasons, thus giving us more Joel. They kinda backed themselves in a corner doing the complete first game in a season, not knowing the show would be a massive hit.
I just watched the finale. Yea it appears they are stretching the second game into Season 2 which surprised me. First I thought there was 2 episodes left and not one. To me the could have wrapped up the 2nd game in that time (following Abby like the game). Then I found that was NOT where they were going in this finale. I don’t remember there being enough content to stretch following Abby into a full third season but it’s been awhile. I fear they are trying to artificially expand the 2nd game but again I don't recall the entire Abby part of the game (it's been 5 years).

I’m in the same place. They made me really hate Ramsey at the end and that cliffhanger was awful schmuckbait, especially for a show that likely isn’t back until 2027. By that time, I don’t know if I’ll even watch again.

They already said they’re going to do a season 4 and I believe they said the end of the show will be different from the game.

Biggest problem in the show at this point is I have no rooting interest. Whatever shred of that I had with Elle went out the window with that finale.

Apparently the majority of season 3 will cover Abby’s point of view of the events of season 2 with Elle not having much screen time.

Who’s asking for this?

Jesus this got really bad quick. I don’t think I’ve ever hated a character as much as Ellie. She just makes the dumbest most selfish decisions ever and is never held accountable somebody is always rescuing her it’s just wash rinse repeat.

We won’t be watching season 3

Many game fans have been asking it to be faithful to the game. That means more of a focus on Abby verses Ellie if season 3 is more about following her like in the game. At least then you wouldn't have to watch as much Ellie.

Yeah, then we get the really bad soap opera "The bullet is fired at the end, then you don't get to see it hit until the end of the NEXT one," only the next one is the end of a SEASON and not episode. Again, freaking awful.

If they do this, watch them end season 3 on the same cliffhanger and not resolve it until season 4.

That’s even dumber. That means they will keep a really stupid cliffhanger going for most of the next season also, which is probably at least 2 years away?

Well, there's a bright side.
Just sit it out until it's all over. But a fat sack, some munchies,...and spend a weekend getting high and binging the entire show.
Get high enough and all the stuff that disappointed you will be new stuff..

Might I recommend a family size bag of nacho cheese Doritos with about 4 cups of nacho cheese sauce heated and poured directly into the bag??
A bit messy, true...but an absolute stoners delight!

Seven episodes in a season, especially with a stupid cliff hanger, is just ridiculous. Very similar to Squid Game Season 2

Here is an excerpt from an article about season three that seams to lay the path for the series:

“The perspective switch is in line with “The Last of Us Part II” game which consists of four major sections – a short Jackson-set prologue and Seattle Days 1-3 from Ellie’s perspective which were translated in the show’s second season, Seattle Days 1-3 from Abby’s perspective which will form the basis of Season 3, and a short fourth section that will presumably form the basis of for Season 4.”

This show does not have enough story to stretch 4 seasons. I imagine almost no one gives a fudge about Abby enough for a full season’s worth of her story… AND then even more story to finish however this revenge tale ends. Especially since the story probably won’t even end until 2028 or 2029.

That has got to be one of the dumbest synopses for a followup to a disappointing season of a show I have ever read. Basically, they have to double down on bad storytelling because the game says so? I'm all about staying true to source material, but there is a reason you simply cannot do direct translations from source material to screen.

What a nosedive this show took. Worse than a soap opera.

Having to watch through the same events twice kinda suxx...they could probably do a better job of it just by flashing to the other character a few times an episode..or at worst just dedicate a couple episodes per season to the opposing view...or, God forbid,...make a full season instead of this 8-10 episode crap

Yup. They could have told the remaining part of this story in one old school 13 episode season.

I mean… watching this season, whenever anyone said “Where’s Abby?” did you care? I didn’t. And now they’re going to devote an entire season to her POV? Ratings already fell off a cliff from season 1 to season 2 finale. I expect more of the same next season… whenever that actually drops.
