Well they did it. They kept the most controversial part of the 2nd video game intact for the series.

Okay… I’m actually glad that happened this early because I accidentally listened to a podcast that blurted out the moment and I thought wellll… crap. it must happen at the end of the season and would have ruined the watching experience all season.

But they snipped that concern real early!

I'm really surprised it came this early. Like Cheese I figured it was going to come at the end of it. I was thinking penultimate episode. The main reason I'm surprised is that…

…is that Pedro is pretty much out of the show now. I didn't think they'd get rid of the big name at the start of the season. It felt like they'd drag it out to the end and deal with the aftermath in S3.

Ep. 2 was insane. Purposely stopped playing the game so it wouldn't give anything away.

I absolutely thought it was coming at the end of the season or possibly not at all. That was a pretty epic episode. Typically something that huge happens in a season finale.

The only reason I thought that they possibly would change the story line is because it's Pedro. He was a massive draw to the show to begin with and it's pretty balzy to take the main draw and kill him off regardless if it was in the game or not.

I accidentally got it in an article, so ditto.

I don’t know if the show can sustain for another 1.5 seasons.
They are pretty short seasons. This season is only 7 episodes. A third season would probably be around 6 eps. I think they could easily pull off 9 more episodes (3 more this season, 6 next). If they try to stretch out to a season 4 I would agree though.

Interesting enough the game gets into what happens next in a much more shallow way by this point. In addition, the pacing was a serious issue in the game IMO. I am a tad concerned at the pacing of the show now and don't understand how they stretch what's left in the game to 1.5 seasons unless they are going to expand a couple of major sequences in the game into more flushed out parts of the story.

Now I heard they are talking a Season 4. Even if they do what I mentioned above? I don't see enough content for a Season 4 unless they are taking the show into uncharted territory. I just don't want to see them do what they did to TWD and to some extent Andor and create a bunch of superfluous episodes to stretch this out. If they are truly going to create new story OK. If they follow the game closely? They might just do that and it would suck.

never played the game...but it seems they screwed the pooch in episode 2...all that foreshadowing on how good Ellie had become at long range sniping,...then a broken rib causes her to just lay there and let the people who did that get away.
when the scene came up of that crew walking up the hill in the snow I fully expected to see heads start exploding, and since there was no cover...all of them at least sustain a gut shot that would have left them unable to get out of the weather for shelter.
But I guess they needed the revenge angle to continue the show...so I am assuming thats how it played out in the game.
Poor writing on the game developers part if so...why foreshadow the sniping expertise.

This now just feels like another Walking Dead, but with much bigger budgets and much dumber characters, which is saying something considering how dumb Characters got on Dead.

Feel like I have seen it already on the TWD, 'I'm like when Darlyl is going to show up ? Even the guys with the scar on the face are boring. The love story manly girl and girly girl is bad too.

I have not watched one minute of either show, but last of us always seemed like another WD to me.

In no way, shape, or form will I ever compare this to TWD. That show, outside of the first season and a few other episodes, was a GD train wreck. This season of Last of Us isn't as good as the first, for sure, but it's a far sight better than TWD, which was nothing more than a water cooler show that expanded from there.

My thoughts exactly. Great first season only to be followed up with a mediocre one with silly human factions that are completely ridiculous and main characters who make idiotic choices. This show has been a massive disappointment in season 2 and is quickly becoming TWD 2.0.

I was wondering if and when they were going to introduce the airborne spores. It looked like they were being kept alive so that the human lungs could be used to produce them. The other thing I like is that the "zombies" are evolving and smarter.

TWD almost went there with the "climbing" walkers but then sort of whiffed on it which would have introduced another dimension to that show.

I really thought this last episode was really solid. Catherine O'Hara is great.
I really thought the last episode was a great example of why this show doesn’t have legs without Joel. He was the show, IMO.

And now Mazin is saying they’re stretching a 2 season show into 4 seasons? Definitely going towards Walking Dead territory.

1000%. That last episode was brilliant and was what made me fall in love with the show. Best episode of the season by far. Sadly I don’t think they can maintain this without Joel.

I fear they can’t maintain the quality without Joel but they are also entering uncharted territory not governed by the game. IMO, that is a big opportunity to make a solid edition to the cast. Everything beyond this season will be new story.

They are stretching part two of the game into seasons 2 and 3, so not quite uncharted territory yet. The question is, if they do a fourth season with that go past the game or are they going to try to stretch part 2 of the game into seasons 2, 3, and 4.
I think if they had to do it again with 20/20 hindsight, they would have stretched part one of the game into 2 seasons, thus giving us more Joel. They kinda backed themselves in a corner doing the complete first game in a season, not knowing the show would be a massive hit.
