It's no secret that the New York Jets fanbase is among the more tortured fanbases in pro sports. The Jets haven't won a playoff game since 2010. Sadly, that coincides with their latest postseason appearance, having missed the playoffs in 15 consecutive seasons.
Jets fans don't have to look far to find a heartwarming story. The New York Knicks just won the 2026 NBA Finals for the first time since 1973. The Jets' last Super Bowl victory occurred in Super Bowl III, a 16-7 win over the Baltimore Colts.
The Knicks' championship drought was only five years shorter than the Jets. Quality drafting and bold acquisitions helped the Knicks achieve the unthinkable for a passionate fanbase starved for success. There's no reason the Jets can't do the same.
It's understandably difficult to envision for the Jets, who posted a 3-14 record last season, matching the NFL-worst outcome. The Knicks have been postseason contenders as of late, but they built their roster and grew gradually. They were below .500 in 2021-22, and especially endured a horrific seven-season stretch from 2013-14 to 2019-20 that included two 17-65 campaigns.
The Jets aren't the Knicks yet, but they can take inspiration from their in-state counterpart. Building the roster with patience and committing to a process leads to desirable results. The Knicks just laid the most heartwarming blueprint for the Jets to end their own championship drought.
