I said the same thing about the timeout.

You have a good point about the delay of game. We needed the timeout more than the 5 yards.

I disagreed with the call pretty strongly and I still do. It worked out, but I don't like to play scared. Here's why I think you run one more play:

1. How many opportunities will you get to score TDs? Can you really expect our D to hold down Favre as well as they did in the second half. When you are at the two yard line, run a play. At the twelve, kick it.

2. You've got a vet QB, plenty smart enough to toss it into the crowd if it's not open instantly.

I think Dave dodged a bullet with this one. Do you know how ugly it would've been for him had we lost by 3 or 4 points?
look, I understand how you feel. I felt the same way at first.

But you have to be carefull in the NFL, one sack would of destroyed any good that came from that nice drive.

Go into halftime tied and be pissed we didnt have that LAST timeout we burned.

It was the right decision because it was the first half. If I am a 0-2 playing the Green Bay Frickin Packers with Mr. Brett Farve at QB, I kick the field goal and go into halftime tied at 10. Yes it is not a gutsy call, but to be able to go into halftime tied with a team associated with winning and the playoffs is a very big motivator.

The one thing many people forget is that the best thing you can do heading into halftime is make a positive play. It builds momentum and confidence over the time in the lockerroom and can set the tone for the first couple plays in the third quarter. If the Cardinals go for it and come away with no points what do you say?

You can't turn away the chance for sure points against a winning team especially when you are at home and have that working for you (maybe not as applicable in SDS). If we are on the road it is a much tougher call, but I generally like taking points especially in the first half to tie the game. If it was at the end of the game, you play for the win, but in the first half you have to tie the game.

Tough call to make but it was the right one.

You make a good point about going into the locker room with positive vibrations.........especially in light of the fact that GB were kicking off to us to start the 3rd quarter. Origionally I thought that it was a poor coaching decision........it actually might have been the best call, albeit , the conservative one.

They had plenty of time to take the shot and still kick a FG if nothing was there. It shows a lack of confidence in the QB/WR's if you ask me and is bad coaching!!

I think someone else hit the nail on the head, all it takes is a holding call and the half is over.I was saying go for it too but I do see why Mac didn't.

I cant believe an NFL coach is really that concerned about the center-to-QB exchange!!! That doesnt show much for the team in my opinion.

Ironic that the two guys both wanting to gamble on a pass to the endzone are both from Vegas!

I say under 10 seconds on the clock, you can't question the decision. You can respectfully disagree, but to call it chickensh*t is over the line.

OVER 10 seconds, and we can all call a spade a spade.

Great win. Never been happier to be wrong about a prediction.

They should have used one more play to try and punch it in PERIOD! If they missed there would have been plenty of time for a FG!

In hindsight the play was the correct call because who kows what might have happened. You may not get the FG as time runs out and the players become demoralized and the game could have turned. At the time it was really a tough decision. You could have had an interception, ran the clock out. We won so it must have been right.

Russ really did hit the nail on the head.

All it takes is for someone to catch a ball inbounds, we take a sack, get a penalty (run off 10 seconds), throw a pick, or scramble around for 8 sec avoiding the sack to lose all the momentum that the Cardinals had built up during that last drive. There are so many things that have gone wrong for this team in the past weeks and we were not playing a spectacular game (good yes, but not dominant). Why on earth do risk something bad happening when you are a team that bad things happen to? Take the safe points to tie when you are assured of them and see what happens in the second half.

-If Mac runs one more play and it fails, good lord, where are we then. Just some additional food for thought.

Who cares 8 seconds is plenty of time to run one pass play!
Bitter experience taught Mac that officials have been known to steal seconds off the clock.

Mac was gun-shy about running the play, not making it and then not getting the FG off. As he put it (in so many words):

"The mindset of our young players was too fragile to risk going in at halftime with no points from the drive.
