This isn’t brain surgery. Ohnmacht is the best player in Kansas for the 2027 class, and K-State should always try to bring in elite in-state talent. He’s a versatile, explosive athlete who does it all for Great Bend on the gridiron. That’s the type of player Coach Klein covets. He’s obviously an elite athlete (he also stars on the Great Bend basketball and track team), but beyond that, the dude is solid, versatile football player.

You can tell that he sees the field and has an innate feel for angles. He outruns angles on offense and uses them to track down opponents on defense. When he has the ball in his hands on kick returns, all he needs is a small crease to take it to the house. Great Bend’s opposition has to game plan against him in every phase of the game.

It sounds like he’ll spend his first season in Manhattan on defense, and that’s where I think he’ll stick. I want him in the defensive backfield, reading the quarterback and looking to force a turnover into a pick-6. I think he would be a solid wide out, but he has NFL potential as play making defense back.

With the new redshirt rule coming into effect, I would not be surprised if he made an immediate impact on special teams while he perfects his technique as a defensive back.

Landing Cooper was a huge flex from Coach Klein and staff. This is the type of recruiting that moves the needle both in the Big 12 and on the national stage.
