MANHATTAN — Laron Baker Jr., a 5-foot-10, 172-pound wide receiver out of East St. Louis (Illinois), has committed to Kansas State football.

Baker announced his commitment on social media on Tuesday, June 23. He picked the Wildcats over the likes of Arizona State, Illinois, Cincinnati and others. He's rated as a three-star prospect and a top 100 receiver in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Known for his speed, Baker caught 10 passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns during the 2025 season in a loaded receiver room. For example, Indiana 2026 signee Kortez Rupert led the team in receiving and four-star 2027 Cincinnati commit Ronnie Gomiller was second.

Rivals reporter Allen Trieu reported that Baker's upside makes him a "great take," noting that some schools wanted to see him play a senior year before offering. When interviewing his high school wide receivers coach, who has sent players to the NFL and works with Chicago Bears receiver Luther Burden, Baker can run every route and had a 4.3-second 40-yard dash.

Baker is the 25th commitment to K-State's 2026 class.
