I'm definitely intrigued with this. Favreau is fairly solid as a director and the voice over cast is top notch.

That said, I'm on the fence with the 'live' action, aka cg, adaptation of it.

I really liked the trailer and I think so far Disney has a great track record with these live action versions of their classic cartoons (even if it only has Cinderella so far).

The casting for this is unbelievable...

but I gotta share something with ya in all honesty....

Bill Murray has a hard job in this movie.... he ****s up Baloo and Ima have to hunt him down and put a size 13D in his ass.

47 years old,.. and still to this day whenever someone mentions Jungle Book,... I spend all damn day,.....

it's just the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities...forget about your worry and your strife,,.....well just the bare necessities, the things that put your mind at ease, the simple bare necessities of life....

This looks intense almost to the point of freaking little kids out. My kids want to see it but I bet this will scare the crap out of my 5 year old. :)

My worry was that he sounded too "Bill Murray" at the end of the trailer. It was the only part that I was not intently into...it was a bit of a cringe. I hope that doesn't happen much in the film. Sometimes it is tough when you have someone so recognizable.

I watched the 1942 movie on youtube yesterday. Not bad for the year it was made.

When I first heard about this I wasn't thinking...meh. However, the trailer looks good and my kids are interested to boot.

word is it's visually stunning and pretty good story-wise. apparently raises the game FX wise ala Avatar, T2.

Looks like it pushes FX. Unlike another trailer of a classic story where some of the FX was beyond bad (Tarzan).

The Jungle Book

Release Date: April 15, 2016 (3D/2D theaters and IMAX)
Studio: Walt Disney Pictures
Director: Jon Favreau
MPAA Rating: PG (for some sequences of scary action and peril)
Screenwriter: Justin Marks
Genre: Action, Adventure, Family

Starring: Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong'o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, Neel Sethi, Christopher Walken

Plot Summary: Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong'o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world. The wild adventure swings into theaters in 3D on April 15, 2016.
