Jefferson County's Charve Gibson has been selected as the Gatorade Mississippi girls track and field player of the year for the 2026 season.
Gibson won her first Gatorade Player of the Year award after it was announced on June 25.
The 5-foot-4 junior won four MHSAA Class 3A state titles in the hurdles and jumping events. Gibson recorded a time of 14.91 seconds in the 100 hurdles and a 45.92 time in the 300 hurdles. She also had a jump of 19-feet, 4½ inches in the long jump and recorded a 37-7 mark in the triple jump.
"One of the most decorated talents nationally to this point in her career as a 48-time All-American and 14-time state champion," Rich Gonzalez of PrepCalTrack.com said in a press release. "Gibson went unbeaten on state soil this spring in the 100 hurdles, long jump and triple jump to position herself as the queen of the Mississippi track scene.”
Gibson scored all 40 of Jefferson County's points, leading the Tigers to a tie for seventh place as a team.
