Imani Galera-Young is in rare company.
Galera-Young, who graduated from Chandler High after completing a stellar senior season, is the 2025-26 Arizona Girls Gatorade Track and Field Player of the Year.
It is her second consecutive year winning the award, the first Arizona athlete to do so since Rio Rico distance superstar Allie Schadler in 2016 and 2017. Galera-Young is the eighth athlete in state history to win multiple Gatorade awards in track and field, which was first given out in 1986.
She broke the Arizona state record in the 300-meter hurdles at the AIA State Track and Field Championships, running 40.65 seconds. That time is ranked No. 4 in the United States.
Galera-Young, an Arkansas signee, won the AIA state title in the 100-meter hurdles as well, also sweeping both events at the Division I championships. Galera-Young ended her high school career at 13.53 in the 100-meter hurdles, No. 4 all-time in state history.
Earlier this month, Galera-Young was named The Arizona Republic's girls track and field athlete of the year. She was a member of The Republic's All-Arizona team of the year in 2025 and 2026.
Galera-Young is adding to the rich legacy of track and field at Chandler, where no school has produced more Gatorade winners (seven) than the Wolves.
