The Memphis Grizzlies' 2024–25 NBA season concluded with a 117–115 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, resulting in a 4-0 sweep in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. This defeat marked a significant downturn for a team that was among the top three in the Western Conference standings heading into the All-Star break.
In Game 1, the Grizzlies suffered a 131-80 defeat, one of the most lopsided losses in NBA playoff history. Game 2 saw Memphis fall 118-99, with the team struggling to contain Oklahoma City's perimeter shooting and fast-break opportunities. Despite adjustments, the Grizzlies were unable to close the gap.

Returning home for Game 3, Memphis showed resilience but ultimately lost 114-108. The Grizzlies led by as many as 29 points but were unable to withstand the Thunder's second-half surge after Ja Morant suffered a hip injury in the second quarter and exited the game.
Following that game, the unfortunate news was announced that Morant's injury would hold him out of Game 4 (via ESPN's Shams Charania). The Grizzlies would go on to be swept in Morant's absence, ending yet another disappointing season.
Speaking with reporters on Sunday, Morant reflected on his injuries, saying they were out of his control this season.
The Grizzlies now face an offseason of reflection and potential restructuring. With the dismissal of head coach Taylor Jenkins late in the season and the team's abrupt playoff exit, Memphis will need to address both roster and coaching strategies to return to contention in the Western Conference.
