The St. Louis Cardinals are in full rebuild mode with an inept manager and a clown in the front office. And yet, they are in the same ".500" club as the DBacks right now. If the Dodgers and Giants come to town and sweep away the floundering DBacks, the DBacks could be 13 games out! Think about that. Surely they would give Torey "L" Lovullo the boot then. DBacks may manage to win a game or two out of the next seven, but the patient prognosis is not good.

As is always the case, the Manager will ultimately pay the price. However, in this instance, I have no idea how any other manager would be able to get this team to starting hitting the way they're capable of hitting. Of course, losing Puk and Martinez hasn't been so helpful either. Burnes requires a cortisone shot...E-Rod has been meh... Gallen has been good and not-so good... Kelly has trouble getting to the 6th inning.

Heard Todd Walsh on with Bick and Marotta yesterday. I think he nailed it. This team is one which created a culture and a vibe 3 years ago, that experienced success over that time and this year, took it all for granted. According to Walsh, he's heard "through the walls," Torey lace into the team... But it seems to be fruitless.

So yea... Torey will likely not survive this season's meltdown, however, unless changes are made in terms of player personnel, a new manager will not see much, if any improvement.
