He'll be starting within the next few games, and will from there foreward.
The dude broke an ankle well over a year ago...
He has been through training camp and still can't get on the field...
He's healthy enough to play yet can't unseat either guard in front of him one of which was an UDFA and he is the #7 pick overall in round 1...
He's making huge money!!!!
He put on way to much weight which shows an extreme lack of discipline...
At this point he's a bust any way you slice it... Maybe he will turn it around but I won't bet on it.
Sure it's disappointing that Cooper hasn't secured a starting spot yet. But to call him a bust is a bit premature.
Also, I didn't know that he needed surgery to repair it. That sounds weird; it didn't look like a compound fracture to me.
We need to stop making excuses for every player who doesn't work out. The bottom line is has he contributed to this team, and the answer is no.
He's a high #1 pick who has contributed NOTHING.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Rookie guard Jonathan Cooper underwent successful surgery Sunday to repair a fractured left fibula and likely will be placed on the NFL's injured reserve/designated for return list, meaning he would be eligible to return later in the season.
Players on the IR/return list must sit out six weeks before being allowed to practice and eight weeks before being allowed to play, although Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Cooper might not be ready to return until Week 12.
"The best part is that the operation went great," Arians said, adding Cooper did not require any rods or plates to help heal the leg. "The doctors were very positive about it. Whether he can come back, we'll wait and see for a couple more days. There is a chance he could come back with six games to go."
I need to see the tape from where Cooper "looked good" last year before he was injured. Didn't he get hurt on like the first play of the 3rd PRESEASON game?

Did he really look that good in those first 2 preseason games last year? Enough to think he will be a perennial pro bowler for the next 10 years like some seem to think?
I don't get see anything from him so far to think he's not just another fat ass sitting on the bench for 3 or 4 more years and then sent packing.
Granted, it is early and he may be all of that and a bag of chips. Based on past experience with this team and its o-line I am not holding my breath.
He looked good on the play he got injured on. He pulled and was blocking downfield, and was injured several yards past the LOS when the RB was tackled behind him as he was about to blow up a guy.
It was the third quarter as well, not the first play.
For whatever my opinion might be worth to you, from what I remember from last year, Cooper was playing very well prior to his injury. He didn't look like Larry Allen, but if we wanted a developmental Larry Allen, we would've drafted Chance Warmack (who has also disappointed and screwed up an essential QB sneak last week). He looked as good or better than Daryn Colledge did last season playing the same position, and Colledge is a long-time veteran. Cooper had a lot of room to improve.
