Iowa State announces MBB non-conference schedule

The 2026-27 non-conference lineup for the Iowa State men’s basketball program has been finalized, highlighting a schedule that includes eight regular season home matchups and an exhibition game at Hilton Coliseum.

The team will prepare with two exhibition contests, first hosting Creighton on Oct. 18 before traveling to face Northwestern on Oct. 25. For the first time in nearly a decade, the Cyclones will begin their regular season on the road, taking on Memphis at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls on Nov. 2. This is followed by a stretch of home games in Ames against Southern Miss on Nov. 6, Southern on Nov. 10 and Niagara on Nov. 15.

During the week of Thanksgiving, Iowa State will head to Las Vegas to compete in the Players Era Championship from Nov. 24-28. Their tournament run begins against San Diego State, with additional games scheduled for Nov. 26 and 27. If the Cyclones manage a 3-0 start, they will progress to the championship game on Nov. 28. The tournament features a competitive field, with Iowa State’s side of the bracket including teams like Tennessee, Maryland, Oregon and Texas Tech, while the opposing side features powerhouse programs such as Gonzaga, Baylor and Alabama.

The month of December opens with a home game against Alcorn State on Dec. 2, leading into high-profile matchups against Big Ten rivals. On Dec. 6, Purdue will make its inaugural visit to Hilton Coliseum to face the Cyclones. Shortly after, on Dec. 10, the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series moves to Iowa City, where Iowa State will attempt to secure a historic fourth consecutive win over the Hawkeyes. Following a home game against North Carolina Central on Dec. 13, the team travels to Kansas City on Dec. 18 to play Missouri State in the NABC Hall of Fame Classic. The non-conference portion of the season wraps up at home with games against Northern Arizona on Dec. 21 and New Hampshire on Dec. 29. Specific game times and television broadcast information will be provided at a later date.
