In 47 years of being a Cardinals fan

this is legitimately one of the worst seasons I have endured. We do not get many opportunities where there is legitimate optimism heading onto a season. Most of the time, it's blind loyalism and squinting at the rosters we've had to try and find something that gives hope. Not since the year after the SB, and the year after the Carson run have I felt that we could truly build off of the prior season. That's how few and far between that hope springs eternal for us. I trusted Gannon and co., yet this regime sold us a bill of goods with all of the hubristic nonsense they pushed that we were poised to take the next step. I believed this coach to be a snake oil salesman from the day he was hired yet I really tried to be fair and give him an opportunity to back up the slick talk. For our season to be over before the bye is straight up egregious and reminiscent of some of the worst efforts we've put up in our "storied" history. Most of the time I accept my season being over early as part of the deal of being a Cardinals fan, but I am utterly furious at what all of us have had to endure this season. When I log on to this site, I just frown. I'm so angry, that I don't even want to watch football anymore because I'm just reminded that we are so infinitely behind 3/4ths of the league, that it's literally a waste of time and breath. I'll never be one of those "I quit ASFN" people because without you all sharing my misery I'd have to be committed to a mental asylum here in Philly. I have nobody else but you guys to complain to so mark this as mine for the year. Paint me disgusted.

You nailed it, I couldn't have said it any better. I never thought JG was a snake oil salesman, I truly believed the "culture change" was a real thing & also thought Monti was the next up & coming GM, so far, neither is true. So where do we go from here? New HC & keep Monti? The players seem to play hard for JG but that's got us a 2-5 record this year with more talent, yet we're 14 points away from being 6-0. It's so frustrating & even more frustrating watching other teams win games & look good in doing so. I really drank the kool-aide this season but now it's pretty much over with 10 games left.

Let's face it - as long as the Bidwills are in control, there is little hope for anything other than winning about a third of our games, and once every 10 years having a meaningful season. Our only hope for sustained success at this point is for Bidwill to sell. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later - it's a real shame our experience is completely owned by a failson jerk.

I enjoy fantasy football and the rest of the NFL in the meantime.

I agree this season is a special type of torture. Since 1967 for me so obviously I learned to accept quite a bit of disappointment. But after two years of playing hard and looking very good at times last year I was so hopeful for this season. The football gods then took over and said not only are you gonna be disappointed but I will start you out 2-0 and then inflict horrible pain on you for five straight weeks. Blown leads and one critical play after another going against you. But you will be in each game till the end and then I will drop the hammer. In one game I will make it so embarrassing it will be done with historic incompetence. Very cruel and painful for all of us.

Watching Brissett has been entertaining for me at least. He's getting everyone involved and working the pocket like we haven't seen in a long time. Hoping Nolan can provide some excitement and Johnson gets his first INT soon.

Kyler will most likely keep playing like he does. If that leads to a benching, there could be some crazy drama to look forward to.

JG was great until this year imo not sure what changed. I’m ready to at the very least find a new QB. If they fired the coaches I wouldn’t care. I do think they are solid coaches but they coach to not lose instead of win. Scared to blitz the QB just sit back and let them beat us. Once or twice I can forgive, not five in a row. NFL not for long.

Ossenfort is a terrible GM who constantly reaches for draft picks and refuses to address glaring weaknesses.

Jonathan Gannon is the same dude who cost the Eagles a super bowl. He runs the team to not lose rather than to win.

Kyler went from mid to worse. He's just very replaceable right now.

Michael doesn't have the resources or ego to hire people who will fix it.

So what's to look forward to right now?

Games? Nope. Cowardly coaching and QB play.

Draft / off season? Nope the GM is bargain basement garbage

Changes? Nope the owner is worse than his dad. At least I knew Dollar Bill was a pretty good person

The only guy on the team worth the price of admission is McBride

This team is still better than last year's team. However, the mystery box potential of Walter Nolan, Darius Robinson and MHJ has not propelled us beyond "better than last year". The Titans loss has also cast a huge stank over everything; 3-4 feels very different from 2-5.

I'm not upset or surprised at all. I haven't gone into a season optimistic in a long, long time. Always root for a win but rarely expect one. In my 60 or so years I have seen worse than this.

I started with Cards when they moved to St Louis in 1960. In 1964 the baseball Cards won the World Series and football went 9-3-2. It was a great time in STL. They fell off until Coryell came to town in 1973. In one year he transformed the Cards into a 10 win team. Eventually Bidwill’s cheapness, despite success, drove Coryell nuts. In 1977 the team dropped to 7-7. Coryell moved on to San Diego and in one year he transformed them into a 12 win team. In 1982 their record was 6-3 because of the strike. Coryell was never the same coach after that. I think he lost his joy for the game. He and the team parted ways in 1986. By 1987 Cards fans were fed up with Bidwill and refused to build him a stadium. People said AZ stole the team. The truth was they were just the latest group to be conned. At the end of 2024 their AZ record was 600-822. That’s like stealing an empty box. AZ ticket holders can’t sue for fraud because this is what a Bidwill team has always been. We fans have only ourselves to blame for disappointment, though it might simply be a case of battered spouse syndrome. They’d have to go 17-0 for over 13 years to just get to 500.

My job is primarily working weekends and last year I went way out of my way to watch as much as possible. Not this year. I'm done until I see major changes
