The Texas Longhorns kickoff the 2026 college football season in exactly one month. But before the season starts, the preseason US LBM Coaches poll will be announced. In fact, the Top 25 ranking will be released on Tuesday at 11 a.m. CT.

Where will the Longhorns land? Last year, Texas was the preseason No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports poll. After a Week 1 loss at Ohio State, UT never was ranked No. 1 again in 2025 and in fact missed the college football playoff.

Defending National Champion Indiana is a good bet. As are the Buckeyes. Oregon, Georgia and Texas are also possibilities.

It would be ironic if when Texas played Ohio State again this year in Week 2, if the Buckeyes were the top team that the Horns were looking to dethrone.
