It was reported recently that the Minnesota Timberwolves were interested in trading for Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown. This came on the heels of rumors linking Boston and Minnesota in a potential swap including Derrick White and Rudy Gobert.

With the Timberwolves and Charlotte Hornets reportedly agreeing to a trade Thursday centered around LaMelo Ball going to Minnesota and Naz Reid moving to the southeast, those Celtics rumors are now likely over.

"The deal is fascinating on a couple levels from a Boston standpoint. To begin, it takes another suitor for Jaylen Brown out of the fold. The Wolves had inquired about the Celtics star along with Derrick White prior to the Ball deal. However, with the Wolves piling up their assets here for Ball, the door can be closed on those pursuits," MassLive.com's Brian Robb wrote. "Minnesota also seems likely to hold onto Rudy Gobert now that they’ve dealt away their other top two bigs in Julius Randle and Reid in the past week. That takes one other potential center trade candidate off the board for Boston."

Boston reportedly offered Brown to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a package that would've seen two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo land with the Celtics.

The Bucks instead, decided to ship Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat, possibly opening the door for "JB" to return to Beantown.

Even with Thursday's news almost certainly taking the Timberwolves out of the running for Brown, there are still reportedly a host of teams that may be interested in trading for Boston's former NBA Finals MVP.
