Feb. 27 was a bittersweet night for JT Delsandro.
He set the new career scoring record for Harbor Creek boys’ basketball. He also played the final game of his high school career.
The senior guard’s 27 points weren’t enough to beat Girard. They were plenty, however, to make Delsandro the Huskies’ new scoring king.
Delsandro needed just two points against Girard to break Chad Vogt’s all-time mark. Just 40 seconds into the game, he drained a 3-pointer which made him No. 1 in program history.
“Knowing that the record was out of the way and I could just play basketball, it felt great,” Delsandro said postgame. “I got things heated up afterwards, so it was a good moment.”

Delsandro started hot from 3-point range.
He scored nine points in the first quarter, helping Harbor Creek open an early lead. Things turned sour late for the Huskies, who eventually lost in overtime, but Delsandro never wavered.
“Honestly, I’m just happy for the boys,” Delsandro said. “They play their hearts out every time we step on that court; every time we practice. I’m just so proud of them and what they’ve accomplished with me.”
Delsandro entered the game needing one point to tie 1992 graduate Chad Vogt’s career mark of 1,554 and two to pass it.
Delsandro has started for the Huskies since his freshman season. Standing just 5’6 – the smallest player on Harbor Creek’s roster – he relies on speed and athleticism to excel at a big man’s game.
“I hope people remember me as a competitor and a leader,” Delsandro said. “Someone who cares about other people more than myself.”

Delsandro’s father, Jimmy, also started for Harbor Creek as a freshman.
Jimmy Delsandro then transferred to McDowell, where he totaled 1,119 points before his 1993 graduation. A 2014 Erie Sports Hall of Fame inductee, he subsequently enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Westminster.
JJ Delsandro — JT’s uncle — also scored 1,000 points at McDowell. The 2001 grad joined the Trojans’ athletic hall of fame in 2024.
JT Delsandro’s future plans remain undecided. His legacy, however, is forever cemented at Harbor Creek.
“It all started when my dad was young and when I was young,” Delsandro. “He’s coached me since I was born. I’m ready to continue that and do well.”
