Addison Lucas became a college recruit through dominant pitching over the past four years.
The senior, however, reached 100 career hits and drove in her 100th RBI on May 21 to lead Harbor Creek to a 12-2 win over Slippery Rock at Penn State Behrend.
Harbor Creek (16-5) moves on to the District 10 Class 4A softball championship against rival Fort LeBoeuf on May 25, while Slippery Rock ends the season 9-10.
Lucas, an Akron recruit, struck out seven and allowed just two runs on three hits in five innings to get the win. It was her performance at the plate, however, that became historic in the win.

In the third inning, Lucas singled in a run to tie the game at two. It was her 100th career hit, joining teammate Brooklynn Cipalla, who reached 100 hits earlier this season.
In the bottom of the fifth inning with the mercy-rule run standing on third base, Lucas lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to end the game. It was her 100th RBI, which is a Harbor Creek record.
“It feels really good. I've worked hard to reach those milestones,” Lucas said. “Getting them in the playoffs is even more exciting because they came in a big game. I work on my pitching all of the time, but I also like to work on hitting.”
Kayla Gossage, Kayla Bresee and Talon King all drove in two runs apiece for the Huskies, while Cipalla had three hits and Arianna Denning had two.
Fort LeBoeuf is back in the District 10 Class 4A softball championship after holding off Titusville 6-2 in the D-10 semifinals on May 21 at Penn State Behrend.
The Bison (16-2) will take on Harbor Creek for a third time this season for the D-10 title, while the Rockets end the season 12-7.
LeBoeuf led 3-0 through four innings behind an RBI double by Gemma Malinowski and an RBI single by Ibree Rodgers.
In the top of the fifth inning, Titusville cut the lead to 3-2 with two runners in scoring position, but LeBoeuf pitcher Kallie Stull induced a flyout to end the inning.
“I told myself to just breathe,” said Stull. “If they score a few runs, it's OK, my offense will get them back.”
The Bison responded with three runs as Lillian McKinney and Rodgers singled in runs and Londyn Davis drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
SLIPPERY ROCK – Hickory and Sharon both put together shutouts in the District 10 Class 3A softball semifinals on May 21 at Slippery Rock University.
