The host Hagerstown PONY-13 All-Starswon the East Zone tournament on Sunday, July 19, qualifying for the PONY-13 World Series in Carlsbad, California, starting July 31. Hagerstown went 3-0 in the tournament.
Hagerstown opened the tournament with a 7-4 victory over Athletix on Saturday.
Ethan Allen hit a two-run single and Cody Kelley added an RBI double in a three-run third inning.
Grant Eaton's solo home run gave Hagerstown a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning.
Dominic Salfia's RBI double in the sixth inning gave Hagerstown a 5-4 lead and Gunnar Burton's RBI double made it 6-4.
Bryce Acre hit a solo home run in the seventh inning.
Eaton, Salfia, Acre and Burton each finished with two hits.
Hagerstown clobbered the Ohio Prospects 16-1 in four innings in the winners bracket final later Saturday.
Burton went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and six RBIs. Kelley had two hits and three RBIs. Salfia doubled and drove in two runs. Cody Mills had two hits and scored three runs. Allen also had two hits.
Hagerstown pulled away from Athletix 16-3 in the championship game Sunday.
Burton's RBI single in the third inning opened the scoring.
Salfia's RBI double and Burton's RBI single made it 3-0 in the fourth inning.
Matthew Remsburg hit a two-run home run and Acre followed with a solo shot to make it 6-0 in the sixth inning.
Hagerstown scored 10 runs in the seventh inning to secure the title. Salfia hit a two-run single, Carter Curfman drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, Allen hit a two-run double, Kelley hit an RBI single, Max Walker drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt, Greer Barkdoll hit an RBI single and Salfia added a two-run double.
Acre pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out nine.
